can you give me more info on INPA/EDIABAS??
-Josh
I have problems getting the software to run, cause it's a bootleg software. But here's some info on the INPA/EDIABAS interface:
Application:
Diagnostic interface for BMW Ediabas / INPA Software, 100% compatible with the original BMW Interface and all it's functions
Introduction
Dealing with BMW complex Electronic Control Units (ECU) along the entire process chain requires reliable communication and data description. The Diagnostic Tool Set consists of a set of PC based applications which support developers, engineers and technicians in all aspects of communication with ECUs and vehicles via serial communication lines.
Typical applications of this Ediabas / Inpa interface include:
- Specification of ECU diagnostic data
- Communication development
- Reading and clearing error memory
- Flash data uploading and downloading
- Reading measurement values
- Input/output control
- Calibration of single ECU variables
- Coding of ECU variables
- Coding of ECU variants
- CAN (Controller Area Network) bus mode emulation
Benefits
- One data set and one run time system for the entire life cycle
- Reduced maintenance effort and cost reduction
- Support of all ECU use cases in Engineering, Test, Production and After Sales
- Automatic generation of specification
- Integrated solutions for on-board/off-board
- Fast and simple configuration of GUI and communication data instead of programming
- Customer specific protocols supported
- Learn only one system for different projects
- Open system architecture
- Proven track record
- Long term application by supporting widespread ASAM standards
- Language is English and German

Sweet Carputer haha! You get GPS with that set up lol.

Selling my E500 Olympus $350(OBO), let me know if you're interested!
I finally got my Carsoft today. My airbag light went off on the Z3, it's likely the passenger seat occupancy sensor. Since I needed a tool to confirm and, most important, reset the light I decided to go this route.
I just saw there's also a version 6.7 and 7.1 of Carsoft: do they work with the Chinese adaptor?

i have the dawm "module does not respond" message, any ideas?
Your vehicle may not have that module in it. 94 would be OBDI, Carsoft reads less from those vehicles.
FWIW: I have it running just fine with a USB->serial adapter.
so what does this do exactly? Diagnose your car for what? like a code reader?

Yes, it is like a code reader + reset tool. Oh, and you can also get a LIVE DATA from OBDII cars. And you can read more stuff from OBDII cars, because they're equiped with more modules you can read the stuff from.
If you need any, PM and I'll sort one out for you.
Cheers.
Am I to assume there is no support for Windows Vista? And is the software upgradeable to the newest version, I think 7.1?

Has anyone been able to get the ews relaignment to work? This was practically the entire reason I bought the stupid fake carsoft
Hi everybody, and especially DJ Genius...
First excuse my pretty poor english, coming from "deep France"... I sweat since many weeks for getting my Carsoft 6..5 kit running...
After reading some posts of David Mc, recognized as "grey emininence", I unfortunately loose patience with this dialog system...
I bought a well reputated kit in Germany (the same used by David Mc), and installed 6.5 from a well recognized source (10 files in the crack folder). The software runs.
I first used a desktop (but not stored on the driver's seat!), and connected to the interface by a long (30') Serial cable.
I learned reading Carsoft troubleshooting, that it must be shorter than 15'. So I installed 6.5 on a laptop fitted with a real serial port, and using a very short serial cable.
For reaching a >12V battery voltage, I bought and plugged a brand new battery charger (result : 12.7V).
The results are allways the same : "Module does not respond"...
Than I tried to run a Live data with running engine : does not run even...
DJ Genius, I saw on your first (rich) post something about "how to avoid the module not reponding"... You told about switching lights on, etc... But I must say that I did not understood what you mean... Could you please explain a little more what process may I perform for getting finally some dialog with my modules?
My car is a 525d touring 2006 model (E61).
You support will be hugely appreciated!!!
Thank in advance!
Well, to avoid "Module does not respond" you need to have all 3 things right:
1. Ignition must be at 2nd position, the position when you get the cluster lights on, but motor is not running.
2. Lights must be on, you're still in 2nd ignition position and the headlights must be switched on fully (not only the car parking lights).
3. Battery must be >12V.
As shown in the picture:
What modules are you having problems with?
Thanks DJ Genius for taking care of my "sadness"... :-)
I will try to switch my Head lights on (xenon lights). But I really do not understand why it is recommanded!... every electric consumption decreases the battery voltage... so it will be a reason more to be <12V... Could you please tell me the technical explanation ? I stopped for a while trying to connect modules and only ran live data with running engine (unsuccessfully). I will tell you the result of the next trial during this week-end.
Yes, I know, it's hard to explain, but that's what was written in the Carsoft manual.
So what modules do get to work? What year is the car? Are you using genuine RS232 connection with a short cable?
DJ Genius,
I did exactly what you was recommanding, only one exception, plugged off the battery charger while performing the live data with running engine. I did not get any module recognizing. Every test was unsuccessfull... The leds of the interface are runing as follows : beginning of recongnizing process , both K leds are flashing from green to yellow (very shortly) and after a while, all 3 K and L leds flash slower from green to red. But nothing respond...
The car is E61 from may 2006. I now use the RS232 cable provided by the interface (3' long), and a small Toshiba laptop Portege with Win 2000 wich has a serial port on its plugging extension (no USB / Serial converter).
I am so deeply upset... because hoping so much about this...
Tanks again!
Oh... now everything is clear... You missed one very important line in my first post:
Carsoft 6.5v works with all engine types from 1988 until July 2004.
I am very sorry to say, but your car is too new for this kit
"Thanks" for this info... I suppose that Carsoft 6.5 itself is compatible (you can see menus in Interval reset specifically for E60 - E61 etc... ) but what is probably stil not compatible is the interface... even if every dealer tells the opposite...
Well, sorry, but you're wrong again. Carsoft and the interface is really capable of doing it with pre July 2004 BMWs and you're probably not aware that some E60 and E61 in Europe are made pre July 2004 So... it's capable of doing diagnostics on some E60 and E61 But not on yours... What you need to do is to get the newest Carsoft BMW Ultimate Pro 1.0
