Yes, keep bumping the three year old thread. Don't be cheap. USE BMW COOLANT! It's only $20.
If you're in a pinch, use a phosphate-free brand, but flush and switch over to BMW when you can.
Use of the BMW coolant will account for what, $30 more than the Prestone? For something that will last 24-36 months? so roughly $10-$15 per year? I'd say that it would be a good idea to go with the BMW coolant, just for safety.
Prestone 50/50 coolant 5 years ago in a 2004 BMW E46 325i Sedan and all still good. Planning to do a flush in a month, and I'm going to use Prestone 50/50.
