So I replaced the rotors and pads with OEM everything on my friend's car and the brakes are noisy. The noise is from pad to rotor friction.
Im pretty familiar with replacing brakes and also did a proper bed-in procedure but it's the first time I've had such noisy brakes after a brake job.
What gives ?
I just told my friend (who doesn't have a clue about cars and is a little worried) that the sound is normal and should go away after some use
Any ideas ?

Did you use an anti-squeal on the backs of the pads? (I know, it sounds simple, but you'd be surprised...)

on my car my front brakes are squeaking really bad when stopping/slowing down while going really slow. they are from the owner before me and he seemed to replace everything with BMW parts. i sprayed this red sticky stuff out of a can on the backs of the brakes and it helped for a while, but now the sound is back. and it never totally went away

it happened to me too. kinda sucks. makes your car seem crappy.
This is my Signature.
Use anti-seize on the pads and on the caliper brackets.

BMW brakes in general are pretty noisy, everything from my dad's E38, to my mom's E53, to my E36 to my friends E46 M3 has squealed. It's just a fact of life.
I had that happen on my rears when I had to swap out pads at the track.
They squealed for a while, but after a few sessions on the track the squeal went away, so maybe they'll get quite if you used them hard a few times.
I would say maybe you had glazed rotors, but if you replaced those as well, it's just a part of life....you can get this stuff to put on the pad that quiets them up a bit, don't remember exactly what it's called.
I did use anti-squeal at the back of the pads and on the bracket where there is contact with the pads. It doesn't sound like the sound is coming from there anyway but from the contact of the pad with the rotor itself.
We only put like 30 miles since the brake job so I guess I'll just hope it goes away after some use
Thanks for the replies.

I doubt that the noise is actually coming from "contact of the pad with the rotor" since this is very rare (unless you see obvious damage to the pad or the pads weren't chamfered). I have used anti squeal (the blue type that you put on and let dry and it becomes a thin membrane) on 20-30 brake jobs and never a squeal. It sounds like the type you are using is the liquid that doesn't dry to a membrane (otherwise you wouldn't want to put it on the bracket where there is contact with the pad (use grease at those points).
Good Luck
Hmm that's interesting. ok. Im gonna try some of that blue stuff for the back of the pads and is antiseize ok for bracket ? thank you

My brother-in-law was a brakes specialist at Midas Muffler, and he used to take a file to the leading edge of the pad to round over the sharp corner. He did several brake jobs for me and I have continued the practice and I've never had brake squeal.
That is called chamfering and it is usually already done to high end pads and it is a good practice.
Put on a thin coat and make sure you allow it to dry before you put the pads on the car. I've always used lithium grease but anti seize should work fine on the metal contact points both will only last so long but that is not where the noise is usually coming from. The squealing is almost always caused by a metal to metal high speed vibration between the pad backing and the caliper piston.
Were the pads you installed Hawk HP+ pads? Those are the ones I have. I didn't try chamfering, but I did use the orange goop on the backs of the pads. Been deafening people to death since I installed them 4 months ago.
mine were quiet as the car with the stock exhaust at idle for a while, now after the stupidity that is new england drivers my right front rotor is warped so it screams like crazy when it makes the rotation past the caliper. its ridiculous.
