Next door to me in a junk yard a found a 73 2002 bright red. Car looks as though it has been fully restored. No Rust anywhere. Car is filthy but i can see through all the dirt. The interior has the recaro m-tech cloth race seats red and Grey in excellent condition also has a wood wheel and shift knob. Looks mint no cracks in the dash. I looked underneath and it was all new. Looks as though it has a complete suspension package. Car has 14 inch BBS wheels. I popped the hood and everything was new. The carbs are missing but the motor looks to be completely rebuilt. All new alternator hoses radiator ext ext. CLEAN!! i couldn't believe it. Even has an Ireland engineering strut tower brace. By the looks of it the only flaws were a few piece of trim missing and a broken drivers side window with the exception of the missing carburetors. I think all it would need is a good cleaning and a buff job. Does anyone have any idea what something like this would be worth all cleaned up?? If i get it I'm going to put dual Webber's on it and maybe track it. Please let me know. Thanks, Alex

Won't know till you do it. It really will depend on how it runs, drives. Looks are great and may get some one hooked easily on it. But if it doesn't run count on a lot less money than you would expect.
I'm not worried about the motor I will get it running. I'm going to make the car fully drivable. I was just wondering how much it could potentially be worth all done.
Now, I might not be a smart man... .. . but beautiful strong running gems do not usually find their way into a junk yard because of something minor.
Make sure you check all the well known 2002 rust out locations. I cannot recall all of them, spare tire well, rear shock mounts, rocker panel just after front fender...just to name a few.
Someone may have simply sprayed a Macco paint job over a rust bucket recently and gotten tired when the truth could no longer be restrained.
I am not trying to be pessimistic here, but I have found that when something seems too good to be true there is usually a reasonable explanation. Buyer beware!
Check the VIN and title for history.
I bought the car today. Has absolutely no rust anywhere. Put it up on my lift and its completely solid. Interior cleaned up really nice and every part is with it except the carbs but I'm going to order 2 weber down drafts for it. Car looks as though it has had a complete body off restoration but was never finished. Comes with a bag full of 02 shop manuals. I really can't believe it. All new break lines and hoses + shocks and all Polly bushings. It seems like who ever owned it was planning on tracking it.
Cool find, hope she purrs like a kitten when you get those carbs on.
I know me too. I cant believe it but i sat in it after i cleaned the inside out and the car has a 5 SPEED!!!!! I am ecstatic.
I guess some people do throw out items of value, just cus its 'easier' than putting an ad in the classifieds to 'part it out'. Sometimes things are in the junkyard because they are junk. Nothing against you feeling ecstatic, but such upbeat enthusiasms are gonna make any nasty truths suck even more. I tend to be simply 'hopefull' in such situations, that way if things tank, Its just a 'oh well' and not a " AAAAAAARGH". Best of luck with your endeavor.
The car checks out i am not worried. Motor has been rebuilt and turns over beautifully.
This car is defiantly not junk it is in actually excellent condition after i have been cleaning it for the last 4 hours. I went around underneath picking at it and there is no rust to be found.
