    Steering wheel play

    I can move my steering wheel from side to side about half an inch or less. I noticed this when I was driving and taking a corner. I just had the car looked at, and all he found was a worn inner tie rod. Would that cause it?

    I remember another car of mine had a loose steering column, and tightening a bolt solved it.

    Inner tie rod would do it. The multiplier effect from the front suspension to the wheel is more than you would think.

    As far as I'm told tie rods will do this...mine need replacing and my mechanic explained that was the problem.
