What type of e30 do you have? What is the real problem? Have you lost the key? The key doesn't turn? The key turns and nothing happens? You are learning to break into cars?

The latch on the hood can be unbolted with the trunk shut. Worst case you can break out the plastic from a taillight, reach in and unbolt it by feel. A taillight is much cheaper to replace than body work.

i have the key.. the key will turn it jsut wont turn all the way to unlock cuz the rods or what ever it is that the lock cylinder moves to physically open the trunk is rusted.. so it will break my key if i
    try and unlock the trunk.

i cut a whole in behind my back seats

    its an 88 IS

    Naw, it'll be ok.

That's what the inside looks like. The two bolts that are deeper hold the lock cylinder in place. Undo all 3 and the latch will come out too.

Wait, try putting wd40 in the lock first. The locks get old and need to be lubricated. Happened to me too. Had to pay 70 bucks for some fat old locksmith to lecture me on how I needed to lubricate my locks.

    thanks a bunch ryan.

when you look at that pic you see that metal rod that goes from the lock to i guess the latch to open the trunk.. once i undo those bolts will i still need to physically pull up on that rod to open the trunk?? or will everything just fall apart once i undo those bolts?

Actually, that metal rod extends below to the lock solenoid for the central locking.

If you undo the two inner bolts, the lock cylinder will pull out. Then if you look inside the hole, there will be a vertical bar. This bar activates the latch. So if you push on it the trunk should hopefully open!
