I am not sure what seal ring the es guys use but AA Ts owners can buy pulleys from Kenne Bell. They are only $60-$70.

Quick question on the oil level for the supercharger unit. Is there an easy way to check the level or would it just be suggested to drain it and fill it back up with the proper amount everytime?

Easy way? Unfortunately not. The best current method is a novel sight glass retofit from forum member Neil. The link for the information is from post #31 in this thread, or

For those who have had their radiator hose bracket bolt strip out I just fixed mine using a M6 x 1 Helicoil kit. It was a quick and easy fix.

I inspected the barbed fitting for the idle bypass hose and found that it was separating from the HFM connecter elbow. I believe someone else had this issue in the past. I cleaned the old adhesive off and used Liquid Nails perfect glue which seams to have set up just fine. We’ll find out how well it holds after I get a few days on the road. Josh recommends superglue gel with accelerator. Everyone should keep an eye on this because it could be a source for a big leak in a place that would most likely go unnoticed.

I recently had my water pump pulley break and I replaced it with the ES under drive pulley set. What a real nice system!

If anyone finds anything else please add it to this thread. This is a great resource!

I had a leak in my idle bypass hose as well, I used some 3M 5700 marine sealant that I had for my boat... I have had this on for several months now without issue...

Where is this idle bypass hose?

How did you locate a leak?

Thanks to all for keeping the thread going.

You already delt with this issue when your intake boot tore and you had to re-glue it.

I was cleaning up after I had issues with my cooling system - water pump pulley broke and then my radiator hose broke. I pulled the boot off of the TB to wipe it down and remembered that others had this issue. I saw that the elbow was starting to come off enough to allow for a large leak. It's back on now and my 2 new hoses should be here today from Bimmerzone as should my 2 spare intake manifold gasket from VAC. I decided I'd order spares just in case.

sorry for the delay in reponding, I meant a picture of exactly which elbow you are referring to. I'm not as paranoid as Johno, but do like to learn from other TS drivers' experiences, that's all - in case some day it does happen to me

Maybe I should list some sort of OCD medication in the TS parts list. There is a bit of a compulsive aspect to modifying an already nice car to make it faster.

BTW, as part of my paranoia, I picked up a spare gatorback belt at the auto parts store yesterday. Runs about $28.

I'm a little paranoid as well. I have an extra belt, radiator hose, and 2 manifold gaskets! Here is a blured shot of the elbow joint I had to rebond to the HFM connecter elbow. It's amaizing the difference I'm feeling

TWO manifold gaskets! That should get you home no problem. My extra gasket is hanging in the garage. Maybe I should move it to the trunk along with a tool box.

OK, so are we talking about the black rubber boot that Josh engineered from a couple of parts? If so, the glue on mine failed months ago, and the stuck-on part began to come off the boot. The magic trick for me was 3M trim adhesive. Then one day I found the teeniest of little pinholes where some air was getting out from my repair. (Just remembers I need to check my glue job on the glue job.) Watch that part. The glue Josh used gets brittle with heat. The 3M stuff is rated to 300 degrees plus, or something like that. Mine is still holding many months later.

That's the part! The original adheasive became brittle and it was starting to come off. After I reglued it to the boot and let it cure foir 24hrs I laid a bead of adheasive around the edge to make sure there was no possibility for a pinhole leak. So far so good! The Liquide Nails seams to be holding up but we'll see after it is exposed to heat. I think I'll pick up some of the 3M to have on hand just in case. I'm sure I can find other uses for it around the house! If anyone has an emergancy need for a 1 piece manifold gasket I have an extra one I can send out! I was in St Louis 3 weeks ago and almost gave you a call to see the car. The next time I'll make sure I let you know.

I hope you do look me up next time.

I found the pinhole in my glue job by pressurizing the intake with about 3 PSI, and my daughter could hear the tiny hiss. (I could not). Moe Muny had the same glue-failure, IIRC. Looks like we need to put the boot down as a maintenance/check/wear item. I'll adjust the original post to suggest this.

thanks for the picture post. Its hard for me to fully see the underside of that connection, but what I see looks intact. I guess I could partially disassemble it and look underneath, or take the lazier route of spraying a little it of brake cleaner along the underside while she idles to listen for sounds of an air leak.

much easier to uninstall and visually inspect it. A couple of seconds for removal and installation. Any leak at this glued seam will be visually obvious.

My ES style manifold gasket went again, I did not replace it with the shrick last time... This time I will. Ugh not looking forward to pulling the SC off again.
