    TS Parts/Repair List

A couple of comrades suggested I make this thread. I'm not sure how it will go given AA's excellent two-year warranty would presumably cover any repairs for those lucky customers. So this thread might be before its time. On the other hand, ES TS has zero warranty, at least in my case. Still, I'd rather source from Josh if needed, but some customers may wish to get parts from sources other than AA or ES. So here goes.

The idea here is to post any TS replacement parts or repair sources that you are aware of:

    ES E36 Kit:

Standard ES belt: Goodyear Gatorback "The quiet belt" 4060760/6PK1930

Fuel Injector Make unknown -- D3165BA

    Delphi / Lucas
37 lb / hr. Disc Injectors
Part Number Delphi D3165BA (Lucas old 5203002, Lucas New 621037)
    Static Flow Rate: 37.27 lb/hr @ 43.5PSI (300kPa) or 282gm/min
Dynamic Flow Rate: 8.42 gm/pulse - 2.5ms pulse width and 10ms repetition rate
Coil Resistance: 15.9 Ohms / High Impedance / High-Z (No ECM driver modifications required)

    Injector source: http://www.racetronix.com/621037.html

    S/C Oil? Mobil 1 15w50 long life -- 100 ML

Radiator hose -- upper radiator hose is from a 1995 540.

    Intercooler coolant sensor (Found on later models) -- This is part number 61 31 8 360 459 -- Washer Level Sender used for Fits BMW : 318i / 318i Convertible / 318is / 318ti / 323i Convertible / 323is / 328i / 328i Convertible / 328is / M3 / M3 Convertible

Intake gasket? Use this one BMW M52 intake gasket: http://store.nexternal.com/shared/St...t=products.asp (This Kevlar-reinforced intake gasket is much beefier than the paper gasket. That could make the part less sensitive to installer precision.)

    Twin Screw repair source?

Fuel Pump -- Made by Walbro -- replaces factory part.

    Throttle body?

    ITG Filter?

Note: I tried an Amsoil for no oiling hassels and to eliminate risk of expensive HFM contamination from the No-Toil Oil.) 6/4/08 update -- my Amsoil air filter is going back in at the next ITG change. 9/15/09 update -- Amsoil may have led to or contributed to fuel air problems. Conforti says tune is "very, very, very" sensitive to intake air flow. ITG filter is back on.

HFM: Porsche part number: Bosch 0280217803 (Seems to be from a 933 or a 911, but not sure what year.

    REPAIR TIPS:

MAF Wiring Resistor -- ES twin screw has resistor in MAF line that can come lose or fail. The correct resistor value is exactly 1.91 K Ohms.

Fuel Pressure Spec -- Here is the required fuel pressures:

Idle -- with vacuum connected: 44 PSI
    0 Vac. 0 Boost -- 51 PSI
    X pounds of boost -- 51 + X PSI.

Air Fuel going Wacky? CHeck for compressed hose at the back of the TS. You're looking for that big "coolant-looking" hose that is right at the back and is about 6 inches long. It has a spring inside to keep it expanded. This spring has beem known to collapse and allow the hose to collapse at idle.

Seem low on power? Check for blown fuse on the intercooler pump.

Can't keep car running after messing around under the compressor? See if you accidentilly bumped the idle control valve out of place. Massive vaccum leak if it's unstuck.

    Bypass Valve Operation Check:

The bypass valve is at the back (top) of the ES TS, with a vac line running into it. It's a black cylinder with a V stamped in the plastic. These can go bad, at some unspecified interval. Two ways to check for proper operation:

    1. Peer into the bottom of the PBV with a flashlight. Note position of lever. Start car -- position should have changed.

Option 2 -- Detach vac hose from the BPV cylinder. Add vacuum to nozzel on the PBV cylinder, using a cheap hand vac. pump. You can see if the lever is retracted into the BPV. If the lever doesn;t move with vacuum and back with no vacuum, it's bad and call Josh.

Maintenance Items to Have on Hand --

    Intake gasket
    Drive belt
    Extra radiator hose

Standard ES belt: Goodyear Gatorback "The quiet belt" 4060760/6PK1930

Fuel Injector Make unknown -- 1636 (???) part number? D3165BA (Perhaps same as Lucas or Delphi D3165BA)

    S/C Oil? Mobil 1 15w50 long life -- 100 ML??? (Is 100 right or is it 150?)

    Radiator hose?

    Intake gasket?

    Twin Screw repair source?

    Throttle body?

    ITG Filter?

    Other?
Your rad hose is from an e34 540, the TB is stock, the ITG filter can be sourced from a few companies online, just go to ITG web site. BUT the g60 conical is an ES only item, you can only buy the cylinder type online.
The gasket is an ES item only for the ES TS as far as I know.

I believe the BPV is a eaton but I cant swear to it.

    repairs go here:
    http://www.pse.us/products.Aftermarket.htm

    AA part list:

Meachincal tensioner BMW PN 11281427252 (ES ALSO)

NAPA BELT: 25-060744 (GATOR BACK 4060745)

    Intake Gasket OBD1 11611717259 (qty 6)

Idler pulleys (for snout bracket) Toyota timing belt idler 13503-63011 make sure it uses bearing PU355816rr9d

    K&N RU-3130

    MAF porsche TT

    Injectors? lucas 42lbs I think.

Everything else should last forever...I hope.

Thanks for the info. I was trying to find out what the radiator hose was so I could get one on order. My belt broke and I could feel where it put a crease in my current hose. Time to change it!

Any other parts info? I changed the first post to reflect the Eursport HFM.

I can circle back to add that Shrick Kevlar gasket for the intake.

I believe the ES TS injectors are 36 lbs
AA probably needed to upgrade to 42 lbs for the stage 3, JMC
but use 36 lb for the first two stages.
(correct me, I may be wrong.)

36lb for ES. I would love to have 42lb injectors with the 73mm pulley. Tuning would be to costly right now.

73mm goes beyond the recommended rev limit of the twinscrew at redline doesn't it?

That I don't know. I got the pulley from Josh during my visit to Eurosport. IThe 73mm yields ~ 14psi and I thought the the max boost of this TS was around 15 - 16psi at max RPM. This makes me believe I have a little buffer before maxxing out the RPM. I hope

It's pushing the limit and may not be worthwhile without new tuning (perhaps including larger injectors). After expirementing with increased boost together with lowered compression, I opted to return to "stock" set-up.

Thomas and Techno550 have a well established tuning solution with 48# injectors. Well, that was with the more conservative 76mm pulley, but I imagine it could be modified for 73. Costs are not that bad actually.

Good parts list, John, thanks. BTW, you know I was just razzing you on that other thread......

I will add that neither Thomas nor I have had any real issue with ours, either in terms of reliability, driveability or any other aspect of operation. Still, I understand the hesitency to cross that bridge, Neil.

that might be the limit for some of the seals within the twinscrew but i doubt that has any bearing on rpm limits. depending on engine and exhaust mods PSI could vary any which way.

You guys are lucky, you must not have OBD2 port inspection. With alot of states making the conversion I hope they dont do it in your state.

I had disconnected my battery for an electrical install i was doing. I had inspection a few weeks later. Now keep in mind I dont drive my car alot, usually a couple of short rides a week. It took me 10 months to get my OBD emissions rediness to turn on!!!!! I had to re inspect every 45 days to stay legal so I wouldnt get the $180 failure to inspect sticker. And forget about buying them, with everything computerized its tough once you have failed.

I dont know if its a Z thing but 640 miles later they finally started, some BMW's take forever, some not. It was a pain in the ass. I will never mess with emissions crap after going through that hassle.

BTW, I got pulled over 6 times for having that big red rejected sticker, NJ cops suck!!! Never ticketed cause I had the paper work!

I would not have done anything if I lived or had plans to move to such a state.....if my state does, it will take years to implement and by then....well, in a pinch I could revert it, but more likely I would have moved on by then. No fear here
