Last night as I was about to get into the onramp to I-880, I noticed this E36 was closing in fast in center lane. I guess it should be the same M3 I spot it one block away waiting to turn on to the main street.
Since I just played 3 hrs of GT3 at friend's house, I was still in the racing mood. I quickly drop to 3rd and the guy couldn't carry enough speed to make a clean pass. He realized it and tucked his car behind me and began the usual tail gating. I divided into the cornor praying the guy knew he had to brake as well. Luckly, he was smart enough to back out a bit.
I gently press down the throttle and brought my speed up further, I could tell the guy was trying VERY HARD to catch up, unfortunatly, in the wrong line!!
As soon as I hit the apex, I floor the throttle and let the car push and pull itself out of the spot. When I took a peek at the rear mirror, the poor M3 had brought it tail around. I was quite freak out and hoping he wouldn't wreck that expensive toy. Fortunatly, he managed to bring the car into control after fish tailing 5 or 6 times.
About 1 min later, he blew by me doing about 100+mph and flashing his hazard!!! : Duh! contest was over!!! no need to rice fly by.......
On ramp battle suby 1 E36m3 0;
btw, the poor guy never noticed my subby was wearing R compound shoes.... , maybe it would make him feel a bit better........
Clue me in Suby= Subaru WRX
so your telling us that your subaru out handle an E36 M3, hmm i highly doubt that. keep dreaming...............
the right driver in the right car can outrun an inferior driver in a superior car, so the post is pointless. He should go to that flamewars.com site or whatever it is called.

Mr. Sad, I seen many E36 M3s have problem powering out the turns, this is just another example of it. Thanks to that poor designed rear suspension.
gerry, I had the super old Yoko A008R tires. Got them for $80 ea.
Our poor subaru's are so disregarded
Great kill...
Subaru's are awesome in the corners if driven right. I know, I went up against one in an off-ramp and was barely able to hold my line. He dove in like there was no tomorrow, I had to back off a bit and accelerate through the corner (making a massive power slide out of the off-ramp).
I think the driver was mostly at fault there... anybody driving a rear-wheel drive car knows you can't be hard on the gas thru a corner cause you'll spin.
I think a good driver in an E36 M3 would manage to out corner a subaru. Not sure tho. 4WD is more confidence inspiring coming out of a corner... especially when you're in the corner too fast to begin with.
Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by hundreds of engineers that get paid thousands of dollars for something you bought at Pep Boys because your buddy who doesn't have a job told you it was 'better'?!?
While Kevlar's post seems right, I'm REALLY finding it hard to believe that a Legacy sedan out handled a M3, sorry but that seems nearly impossible. I was at an autocross last weekend, and the car w/ the fastest time was a bone stock M3 (95), running against all kinds of cars w/ tons of suspension work. Maybe a WRX, but not a Legacy, sorry, no way.

Why don't we have a little smily face that raises the "BS" flag? We need one for posts like this.... The M3 driver probably wasn't trying to pass you... what's the glory in beating a Subaru Legacy?

What would be the point of a Subaru driver coming on to a BMW board and telling a story like this. Do you expect to get a cash prize and applause. I highly doubt this story is 100% accurate, more around 10%.
5 or 6, ........riiighhttt.: : : :: :Fortunatly, he managed to bring the car into control after fish tailing 5 or 6 times.
Let me guess he stalled out after, got pulled over by a copper, and your car popped wings out and took off.
