I just wanted to update everyone. I just looked up these tools and the shim kit on the updated etk. They are the same part numbers for the s14/s38 and the s50b30/b32. They tappet depressor and the shim kit are Identical, and DO work. I just tried this last night on my car.

FYI, the s50b30/32 part HAS been superceeded to the s14/38 tool.

The B30 shims are in the thicker range, where the B32 shims are typically thinner than what come in the S14/S38 shim kit. For the B32 owners, you'll have to either order a handful of shims in each thickness in the high 2,--mm range, or check clearance, measure shims, and order the correct shims for your car. They are around $8-9 each from the dealer, so ordering half a dozen shims of each size (0,05mm increments) from 2,50mm to 3,20mm gets expensive very quickly! I think with all the B32 engines I have around here, I may just have to suck it up and do that.

Bmw still lists the same part number for the b30 and b32 kits. However like you stated, the thickness' for the b32 go to a lower range. These are not available in a kit. As far as I know you have to order them seperately.

I needed a bunch of shims between 2.70 and 2.90 and all of the dealers around here and in Seattle only had shims over 3.00 in their kits. I ended up ordering some from Germany.

Interesting info in here, missed this up until now

It's almost impossible to get tools here as well, but if S14 works then it should be easy

I know this is an old thread. and I think the answer is already here. I would just like to get some clarification if it is possible. Can the BMW tool 113170 valve depressor for the s14/s38 be used successfully on the s50b30 euro engine? Does anyone have any real experience with this, so I can be sure before dropping 125$ on the tool.

    Exclamation

The S50B3X valve tappet tool is now available for special order from your BMW dealership with an active part number of 83300491053.

It is definitely the exact same tool with the original tool part number printed on it:

As an added bonus it's less than half the cost of the S14/S38 tool as of this post, though I ordered both tools to service all of my cars. Get yours while you can!
