    Yellow low-beams, should I?

I recently came across a pair of BOSCH French Dual yellow headlights, as can be seen on my car in the pictures. That shot was taken moments after I put them on, and that very night I get pulled over for them. I freakin' love them though! much better than white light IMHO, plus the bulbs are brighter than my old ones so it worked out. But, I heard from someone my dad talked to, who we can't contact, that theres a way around it in the state of California, does anyone know anything about it? If so I would love to put these on daily, instead of paying the fix it ticket everytime. Well TIA for the help - Tristan

the driving lights/low beams CAN'T be red/yellow in california. the highs are ok since you dont exactly drive around with them on.

but if you could get a really bright bulb, just make sure that you cant see the yellow when the lows are on.

I was thinking maybe HID lows and Fogs would cancel it out maybe.

show us some pictures of the lights on at night, and a shot of the road so we can see what that looks like too! I just put in yellow ZKW fogs, they really seem to help in the rain!

    Coming soon.
You're in Cali, so no, you shouldn't.

Now if you were here in PA where they couldn't care less about anything, then sure....

i dont underastnd the yellow rule. Older cars liek pre 80's have the crappiest output bulbs that are a dim yellow, but its legal.

What the hell is wrong with a bright yellow? Im gunna run them in the fogs only, but i like the 3000k look too

My car (not a BMW) had yellow lights from low, high, and fogs when I was living in Asia. Those yellow lights for the E36 definitely looks hot and from the E36 in the French market.

I dont think he will be losing any light output. The reflector in the headlight is the yellow part, not the glass lense. right? So this would just reflect nice yellow light without sacrificing any output wouldnt it?

I'm pretty sure you would be reducing the amount of light reflected off if you changed them from silver to yellow. You are taking them from a very reflective surface color to a not so reflective surface color.

im sure with a nice pair of white HID's you wouldn't be able to tell as much

and yes, yellow of course is less light output then clear/white/silver...

When I have free time tomorrow night I'll put em back in and go take some output pictures, I have to find a cop and write off the ticket I have while the Depo ones are in. The lenses are yellow glass it isn't the housing itself, so it's probably reflecting the same amount of light but I'm not sure if the yellow lens holds any of it back.

We aren't in the 70s or 80s anymore. Yellow lights have come and gone. Your fogs are VERY good looking.
