about to buy a used 5 series - questions on warranty

I am considering buying a used2008 5 series 528xi.... and looking at one that's from a non-BMW dealership. It's got 75,000 km on it, and as I'm told, therefore has 5k left in it's warranty.

I have a couple of questions regarding this that I'm hoping you can help with:

1) is the warranty truly transferable when buying from a non-BMW dealer?
2) what do I have to do to transfer elibility over?
3) wtih only 5k left, can I purchase an extended BMW warranty - and how much are they typically?

I can tell you that I have an extended warranty from Coverage One that my BMW dealer sold me and told me it was better then the Certified warranty.They are based in Ottawa and any car dealer can sell it to you.I paid about 2600 for 2 additional years.
I believe the BMW warranty stays with the car so you should be able to assume it from whoever you buy the car from.
You do not want to own a BMW out of warranty IMHO.
