Lightbulb putting m3 diffuser on normal bumper

I was wondering if i could just get a diffuser from an m3 and fit it on a regular 3 series back bumper. I know alot of people say it can't be done, but why? if it needs cutting to fit I can do it...

I wondered this too a while back. Too many people told me that it wouldn't fit, others said they did it and it fit. I just went the safe route and got myself a BMP diffuser, i posted pics check archives
The bmp was 199, the stock M3 one is about 140. I didnt wanna risk trying to cut it so I just coughed up the extra 50.

It does look a bit funny.. the stock bumper is so round.. then ur gonna add a lip to it.. Looks alright in the center but on the sides where the M bumper wraps around the diffuser.. it looks real out of place. But thats just IMO.

no offense to flip....but i think the diffuser on a stock e36 bumper looks like ASS. looks like a little fish tail hanging out the back. Ali....you wont be able to do it with a stock m3 diffuser but bmp makes one that looks like the diffuser but its meant as a PnP for the non-///M e36 bumper. you may wanna look into that.

ok you've all stated what I've heard before but I want to know why it wont fit, is it because of the sides, or the mounting points, etc

if ur gonna fork over the money for an m3 one...why not just get one that fits.......unless ur NOT planning to fork over money and get it by some "other" means (???)

Is the sides.. the M bumper comes out and wraps the sides of the diffuser.. the stock doesnt.. it goes round then a fish tail like Saeed said.

LMAO! do we have comedians in the house or what?? Russell (aka Baba :p )...you really dont need to see pics...go to your car and look at the rear bumper. imagine the rear diffuser sticking out...literally like a fish tail about 2.5 inches with the same shape as the m3 one. it looks VERY odd b/c it isnt flush with the rest of the bumper. the sides and the whole "fin" itself come out...again...looks like ass IMHO.

ps. by the way Ali...its koskhol (kos - khol...not khos...not ghol). just trying to teach a brother

So if I wanted to be an M3 poser, I would have to replace my entire rear bumper, correct?

Damn, it would almost be cheeper to buy an M3.
    550 for front bumper
    450 for side skirts
    500 for rear bumper diffuser
    200 for door moldings
    450 for spolier
    475 for mirrors

and then you have to paint it all, thats why I gave up and decided that the stock look was not that bad...

But I still want to modify the look of my car, but need suggestions, I currently am trying to find out if this bumper pictured below is manufactured for E36 so I can put it onto my understated 3 series...
