What size tire you E36 M3'ers running on 18x8 rims??

    Hey all,

Due to my recent problem of obtaining a cracked rim through the political deviances of the rerouting of proper highway maintenance money....I may be looking into a new set of rims....particularly these.....

They're 18x8" and $800 for a set of 4. I am wondering what size tire to run on these. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

    TIA

    225/40 most common
    225/35 good match-up for stock-like rolling diameter....S-03's are $170 each in this size...not too bad for 18's
    235/35
245/35 problem with the last 2 sizes is the only are made in the Pirelli PZero....WAY high price and crappy tread life

Most people use the 225/40R18 with the 18X8. The 235/35R18 will handle a little better.
If I can help with the tires let me know.

Who makes a 235/35/18??? Who makes those? Falken or Toyo are ones that would jump out at me for the 245/35/18 sizes besides the pzero nero tires...

I have 225/40/18 on 18x8" wheels and they fit great. I like the Bridgestone S-03s since they tend to run a little wider so they don't look stretched at all(which I HATE) and they also have the rim protector beads on them.

miss my rieger 3, but love my new S2000!
225/40 would be a good size for 18x8.

225/35 is way too low profile for me....

    18x8 tire size

I have heard that running a 245/40 is too tall, a 235/40 is still slightly too tall, and 235/35 is just difficult to find. Running those in the rear may throw off such things as speedometer calibration, or affect the traction control -
Most people with 18x8 run 225/40 all around - but in my opinion, that is too narrow in the rear -

    I'm running 235/40/18.

Sidewall is a bit too tall, imo.

Ideally, i would run a 235/35/18, but who the hell makes a tire in that size?

I know bridgestone makes the SO-3 in 225/35/18, which i might get for my next tire..

I'm using the 225/35/18 S-03. I think it looks great and the car really works well with them. I had the 235/40/18 and had all kinds of rubbing issues. If I keep thecar I might try a set of 225/40/18 just for grins....ahhhh..the joys of working for the tire company
