Hello "M50PoweredE30" and "RJB":
Yes it seems cheap and superficial. However one of the unexpected bonuses that both me and the wife have discovered (we don't often travel together) is checking into a hotel. When the desk attendent asks, "what is your vehicle?" We get a noticeable difference in attitude when we say , "the White (or whatever color) BMW."
Cheap thrills? Perhaps. Beats the heck out the the response to "the brown Ford".

Do any of you really really care that a Mitsushitzi could be faster than your 335i, I could care less. It's rice, who cares about rice excepts for backwards ballcap wearing white boy hip hop listening morons.

the ignorance displayed in this thread has served to prove one thing.................ya cant fix stupid.
lets recap......" B5 S4's are slow"......."Evos are rice"........"look at whats parked outside, can i have a reach around"
get over yourselves, go drive ur cars....and do everyone a favor and just stop posting.
How much power needed be in order to say – that’s enough power? I guess there is no number for it. Is 500 hp enough, or maybe 1000? Cars are getting faster each year, but I guess that even when they’ll be able to fly (in 250 yrs or so), we’ll measure speed in speed of sound (or light… haha).
As for today, the thing is that 90% of the time we drive on public roads where there is only 50% of the car abilities can be utilized. We drive on congested roads behind slow-drivers, left lane campers, and long overdue for change slow speed limits.
On the side note, sport bike is a real fun. But requires lots of discipline and skills
I don't surmise you to be an idiot, I KNOW you to be an idiot. Typical dumbass BMW owner thinks he's king of the road and who gives the rest of us real enthusiast BMW owners a bad name. Anyone who drives an Evo is a "ricer" and a "moron"? Get a clue you retard. You need to get over yourself. You drive a $40,000 car, not a Ferrari. Try to not be such an asshat.

I test drove a lot of cars before buying my 335i last November, including the EVO MR. To me it was the closest in acceleration snap and fun factor to my 335i. However, I'm 45 years old and as a Director within a large corporation, it just was not a fit for me. The car was indeed a blast to drive, but the end price would have been around $38K and my 335i was $ 46K. The difference in overall substance and refinement for the extra $ 8K for the 335i was easy to justify. The EVO MR with it's Bilsteins, Brembos, and BBS wheels and such is a well put together car. However, it was gaining all of it's power from an older technology 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine. That engine is well proven over it's years of manufacture, but it still runs normal plug wires instead of direct ignition. The 335i offers newer technology that we will be able to use as a platform for future performance gains.
In the end, I do not look down on the owners of EVO's (or STI's for that matter) as "Ricers" or otherwise, I consider them as great adversaries in the occasional romp and during bench racing discussions. The different flavors of cars adds to this wonderful hobby.
That's my 2 cents.

When out on the town I prefer not to say what I have parked outside. I bought my BMW because I've been drooling over them most of my life as an avid C&D reader having been subjected to all of their drool for however many years they've been drooling.
anyway, the EVO may be faster, but only if you are willing to break something. The BMW is so much more luxurious that any performance shortcomings are more than made up for, IMO.
I like to show everyone my BMW keychain that has my key to my 325 and my 335. And I never refer to it as a car-I always manage to work in the word "BMW," like "My BMW this or my BMW that."
That makes me feel better about myself. Better than ******!

Man I feel like there are a lot of kids posting right now...
The new EVO looks really good. Much more finished than the previous...and I don't know how anybody can think the technology in the EVO is dated...it's more current since it's used in the WRC

Richard Hammond said it best when he tested the new(then) zed4.."lets be honest, you could put a Bmw roundel on a deadcat and people would line up to buy it." The Evo X looks hot, better than the IX, IMO...the 335i would beat an EVO IX stock for stock and when you throw in procede it becomes an ass whoopin
You do know that the 4G63 has been around 20 years and its upgrade path is well established and CHEAP. You put that $1500 that you spend on the Procede into the Evo and it will walk the 335i w/Procede all day long.
Let me know when you get your 335i into the 8s.

$1500 isn't getting into 8s. IN any car so compare a race car to a road car all day.

Come on may, you're talking pure hypothetical. The EVO is a great track car, so is the STi but it's not the best car in the world, nor is the 335i.
Mods and performance gains are simply a pocket supplied hobby. One person may think $1,500 is a lot and another think it's nothing. So it matters little.
It takes money to go fast, and at the point of diminishing return.
With $700 for the Turbo Tuner, the 335 goes from serious quick, to supecar territory. Something EVOs and STis share too. but don't be a fool to think that you can't be beat by any POS on the street by some fool that wants to go fast.
Plus since when did EVO guys car about going straight? The car is made for the track and rally...use it.
This guy thinks his Dodge is faster than your STI
