Thumbs down about duane conrad owner of conrad motorsports

a real scumbag to watch out for is
    duane conrad
    his company is
    Conrad Motorsports, Inc
    10878 Wiles Rd
    Coral Springs, Fl 33076
he sold us a car , that he said is in great condition
and so far needed about 1,100,- bucks in repairs.
anything you could imagine from a failed headlight ecu.
    to drivetrain parts.
conrad sold this car without even having a title for it and sold the car as with clean title. i would have smacked him straight through the face right then, but my girlfriend was there, too. and he swore that he would get the stuff straightened out the very next day. (i should have just done what i felt like doing right then...grrrrr)

during the first month, he never answered the phone or returned any phone calls. he only returned my phone calls after he had the authorities sent to his place.
then it took him almost 2 months (!) to get the title work sent out to me.
he overcharged for the regristration fees and had nothing but snide
remarks when it came to any explanations.
one really hopes that carma come back , because he could use a dose
of a real good beatin. but my friends from the dmv and fdle have called in, in order to help me out there.

    $2,200 17 year old 535i with 174,759 miles!!

Please allow me so rebut the charges against me. First let’s get some perspective. The car in question:

    1991
    BMW 535i
    174,759 miles
    Purchase price $2200

Maybe it’s just me but when you buy 17 year old car with 174,759 miles for $2,200 it probably will need something. They picked up the car at night and the headlights were working when they took delivery of the car. I don’t know of any drive train issues. Again they purchased a 17 year old car with 175,000 miles for $2200. I tried to paste a copy of the ebay ad but site would allow it. I will be more then happy to send anybody a copy.

As far as the title is concerned, I told them we just purchased the car form an auction and we didn’t receive the title yet. We are a licensed dealer and can not give the title to the customer directly. We have to register the vehicle. Then the State of Florida, mails the new title, to the buyer, in the buyer’s name, which I explained to them several times. They were given a temporary tag and took possession of the car. It took 5 weeks for me to get the title, then another 4-5 business days to register the car. So when the 1st tag expired I over nighted a 2nd one. Per the State of Florida I can issue up to 2 temp tags for a maximum of 60 days for title and registration purposes. The car was registered and titled with in that period of time.

This is not to mention that she was transferring a tag from another vehicle. She still owned the old car when she bought this one. She was supposed to buy a new tag. But I said I would wait to register the car until she sold the old one.

Every time I spoke to her, she would say the same thing."You better have my title today! I'm coming to get it right now! You @#$#@% (threat of the day)!" Then I would again explain how titling a car, in the State of Florida, worked. Then she would threatened me again. So I stopped taking to her.

When the auction informed me the title was available, I texted her an update, to avoid the threats. Then she threatened me and my wife via text message..

The police never came to my office.

I didn’t do anything illegal or underhanded.

If this idiot had friends at the DMV they would have told him the same things I did.

As far as a being “smacked though the face” or “dose of a real good beating”. That just proves what kind of people they are.

    So BMW Forum members beware.

We have since move to a larger location with a 60+ car inventory. 40% of which are BMW's ranging from 1993 - 2007. 3/5/6/7/8/x and z's. I am available to any reasonable person anytime for 8am - 10pm

    Broward Bimmers

Broward Bimmers has the most knowledgeable and honest techs in S Florida. I not only bring my cars to them but I also recommend all my friends, family and clients.

Most of the BMW’s we sell are still under warranty. But I still recommend Broward Bimmers to them. Because I know when there warranty runs out they will be taken care of.

    Duane,

Thank you for registering here and posting your side of the story, and for making yourself available for contact to potential buyers. I'm sure it will be of use to people searching for cars in the area.

Also, thank you for the recommendation of Broward Bimmers. I'm sure they are a good shop and I would love to stop by sometime. I just had to call into question those two reviews, that's all.

noone said anything about headlights not working. it is the headlight ecu.

    1991 BMW 535I

    Side-by-Side Comparison
    Kelley Blue Book Retail: $6075
    Change Vehicle

Don’t miss this rare 535I. BMW enthuesists dream this is what the 535 was supposed to be a drivers car. This is a great running car with cold a/c, power everything. If you are looking for a classy but affordable German sport sedan this is your car. Kelly Blue Book Retail is $6075. You can have this car for the highest bid.

Leather seats, premium sound system, 17” deep dish mesh wheels and much more.
btw the premuim stereo radio... doesn't even work.
i guess, much more was all the repairs that had to be done on the car.
oh and he clearly stated in the listing that the title was clear and a title that is not in ones possesion is not regarded as clear.

you said you do it first thing how come it took you 5 weeks to go and pay-off the car you bought from the auction? and how come you failed to answer the phone during office hours. and one more thing noone ever insulted you in your face or on voice mail, that is a blunt lie.

we payed you over $500,- for licence and registration. you said you would do all paperwork first thing in the morning. and you didn't and on top of it you never answered the phone or called back.

all that was said to you was : "you better make this right , guy. call back and tell us how you fix the situation. or we will sent the police to you"
which we did and guess what , then it only took mr conrad 10 min to call back then... after all of our 30+ plus phone were unanswered calls during the first 30 days.

oh so you did not have to explain yourself to officer mulvey from the coral beach sherrifs office? what a liar.

we didn't want to go to the extent of calling the sherriff office and filing a complaint at the dmv.
this could all have been avoided by returning or answering a phone call instead of just thinking that they will stop if i don't do anything.
again noone threatened you or your wife. all that was said was that there is a complaint filed at the sherriffs office against you and if you don't call back we will not hestitate to send them to your home address as well.

again, i urge everyone to evaluate what has been said here by me about duane conrad and decide if you want to take the risk of doing business with him or refer him to anyone you know.

this whole thing is not about a headlight ecu or something.
this is about doing the right and honest thing and stepping up to the plate,
when one can't fulfill what was promised.
it is about treating cutomers with respect and having the decency of telling them why it would take 5 weeks to get paperwork in order.
    also on a different note
how come that a person (who suposingly bought another car from conrad) leaves feedback for the car that i bought?

if that is not fishy, then i don't know.

Correct. You are to apply for the title after the purchasor has filled out the application for the title. You can not just obtain the title yourself for the purchaser.

We have to register the vehicle. Then the State of Florida, mails the new title, to the buyer, in the buyer’s name, which I explained to them several times.
I am not certain that as a dealer you are required to register the vehicle, however it's a sticky situation so as a seller I respect your right to require the buyer to obtain the registration.

They were given a temporary tag and took possession of the car. It took 5 weeks for me to get the title, then another 4-5 business days to register the car. Yes but also per F.S. 319.23 (6) you are required to transfer the title within 1 month.

as i said the issue was to not ever get an answer or return call.
and after the fist tag expired and we still didn't get any communication going.
we called the police and filed a complaint at the dmv.
where i then heard that he only put in the paperwork on january 25th.
that is not how honest people do business.

I don't mean to throw gas on the fire but I have purchased cars before where I had to wait extensive amounts of time to receive tags. With a Ford Lightning I owned, I traded in a Toyota 4runner. Anyways after 2 months of ownership I got pulled over by some lady cop who pulled her gun out and held it at her side while having me open my door from the outside. The reason being because when she randomly ran my tags it came up as a belonging to a white 4runner and not a red Lightning.

Also happened with my M3. Traded a CTS in on it and took them almost 2 months to get the new paperwork.

Aren't we getting a little off track here, I thought this was a thread where one can find BMW shops in our area. Perhaps you folks can take out your own thread and argue over who screwed who out of what and stop hijacking this one?

Does anyone know a good BMW shop in the Lakeland area? I CAN drive to Tampa/Orlando if need be, am just hoping there is one closer.

They did my pre-purchase inspection. Nice people, knew their stuff, and price was more than fair. They found a couple of minor problems and gave me good quotes to fix them.

I wouldn't hesitate to use them if they weren't so far away from me. (They were close to the seller's house.) Even so, I might still take my car to them when I need pros.

I just went to Ultimate Euro in Davie Florida and let me tell you that Raul is a really nice old fella! He was polite and despite me walking in on his lunch he sent me away with the confidence that he would call me with the info on the work I wanted without having to wait around. He called me and gave me a fair price for a LOT of work to be done... So I recommend this guy and his family business!!!

He also gave me a number of a good body guy that also respectfully treated me with care and seemed honest about what I needed and price!

Mike's Beemer Shop is absolutely amazing.

Mike himself has been working on BMWs since 1984 and definitely knows exactly what he is doing. I took my control arm bushings to him to hav ethem pressed and put onto the arms.

Labor is $87 an hour, but they work quick.

The real thing is how awesome of a guy Mike is. I had trouble getting the arms on my car and brought them back in. He came with me to my house and helped me put them back on. I have never experienced such service from any mechanic.

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
