Alright everyone, sorry for the somewhat long delay, we took a vacation to Bermuda for a week and I've been catching up on work.

I want to say a huge thanks to everyone that has contributed to this list! It seems like every other day someone on here is looking for a mechanic, so I'm sure as word gets around this will start to be really useful. On that note, does anyone know an admin or mod that could sticky this thread?

Maybe someday I will sort the list and group the shops by area (or area code), but for right now I think this works. Again, thanks to everyone for contributing!

    Egyptntree's Review:

I am very weary of this shop. I had them do a simple task of installing some rear camber arms and to do this the rear differential had to be undone from its mount to access a bolt. When replacing the bolt the tech cross threaded the bolt and due to that the differential started to work its way loose and eventually broke the axle seals and destroyed the rear differential. I took it to BMW and it would not be covered under warranty and even Active took it to BMW near them to get it covered and BMW refused both times stating that someone had cross threaded the bolt. Active would not assume responsibility and I was stuck with a $3400 bill.

    Egyptntree's Review:

This is an excellent shop. I have taken my car to them numerous times and have even done a clutch and flywheel swap with them. The are great and even let you watch them work on your car. Tim is actually the owner along with Rennie and Tim is always in the back working on the cars.

    Okay everyone,

I just wanted to update this and say a few things:

1 - thanks everyone for the reviews and the contact info! I think this thread is benefitting a lot of people in the area. Now, if only people would READ the sticky at the top before posting a new thread and being referred to this one.

2 - I split up the reviews into Palm Beach, Ft Lauderdale, and Miami to make them easier to sort out. Is everyone liking the format?

3 - POST MORE REVIEWS! Theres got to be some more good shops out there. Also, a lot of these shops do some great repair and install work, but don't do tires/alignments, leaving people without an option until the last minute. So if we could get some good reviews of tire shops, I think that would be a huge benefit. No one likes their expensive rims scratched up by tires plus (or, if you know of a tires plus with a man on the inside that does good work, post that too!)

    Edge Racing

Not exactly an auto shop but I know everyone needs tires. Edge Racing is just south into Broward about a mile from the NW 106th St. Turnpike exit.

They are like Tire Rack but you can pickup your stuff from their warehouse at no cost and I think their prices are cheaper to start with. They don't install the tires but there's plenty of decent places... TK Performance, etc that will install your tires. Personally i used the Martino Tire on Bird Rd & 57th because that was the closest to me. If they mounted your tires they'll rotate them for free last time I tried about a year ago.

Also forgot in Davie there's a place called Ultimate Euro Repairs they are a family business with about 5 service bays. When I was there the owner Raul Bengolea was dealing with the customers and his son was working there They stand by their work I called them one day and the next morning I dropped off my VW to change the camshaft seal on the 1.8t engine... those timing belts are a bitch to do and they had it to me same day mid-afternoon. Normally I do my own work but like I said those belts are a bitch have to remove the wheel, bumper, fuel lines, coolant lines, jack the engine and a few more things. They were able to diagnose the problem another shop told me it was the headgasket. They are mainly BMW/Benz shop if I recall correctly.

I've been updating my first 3 posts with all of the contact information for all the shops so people don't have to read through pages and pages to get the info they need.

I had to change my differential oil and got really frustrated trying trying to find a 14mm allen socket that would work. My great-uncle recommend a place that I pass by all the time and never would have thought of ever taking my car to. Looks can be deceiving. They had a Hunter GSP9700 which is one of the most advanced wheel balance machines... same stuff the dealer uses. They also have a Hunter alignment machine I think it was the 700. Anyways they fixed a flat and changed my diff oil (which I provided) for $45 and some change.

I probably wouldn't have them change cams or work inside my engine but its good to know a place that can do basic stuff or flx a flat without the inflated "German car shop" prices.

Done. Sorry I've been off the board for awhile and just got around to updating the main page. It should have the contact info of all of the shops posted up so far. Thanks again for everyone's contributions.

I'd totally check out the tire place you posted about if I were in Miami. Sounds like a good shop if they have the hunter equipment!

I want to thank you for the contact information on the shop, but I can't help but question the validity of your "reviews".

Both the username Bajapanti and Henry964 joined within 1 day of each other (around Jan 24th), post extremely similar reviews about the same shop within 23 minutes of each other, and have extremely similar comments and grammar between the two. In fact, both reviews list word for word the sentence: "They have factory equipment (GT1,sss)"

If you are affiliated with this shop, then I'd like to welcome you to the area, and I'm sure some members would be willing to try your services. Good independant shops are few and far between. However, posting good reviews about your own shop is usually frowned upon.

Even if you're not affiliated with the shop and are simply trying to spread the good word, the fact that it is very obvious that one person is trying to write multiple reviews show that you are trying to decieve the community, and that will hurt your reputation and the shops reputation far more than you'd think.

If I'm in the area, I'd be happy to stop by the shop to check it out and post what I think of it, and I invite other members to do so as well. Until then, however, because of the fact that the two reviewers are obviously the same person with no further information, I will not be adding this shop to the list of recommended shops at the top of the thread.

The two screen names are very obviously the same person, right down to the same mis-spelling of excellent in the two different threads, which were posted within minutes of each other.

Like I said before, for one reason or another, you're obviously trying to deceive people on here, and its pretty obvious. I'm all for new shops trying to get the word out, but not by writing fake reviews. Now, if you're affiliated with the shop, then just come out and say it, no problem. If you're truly not, then thats fine also. But using two different names for the same post trying to endorse something on here is shady, plain and simple.

If you want people to trust you on here, I suggest you do the right thing.
