I'm thinking about buying an 88 325 convertible. It is in fabulous "reconditioned" state with high-ish miles. The only thing I noticed when I drove it was a large amount of squeaking from the soft top. It wasn't a localized creak or grind like a metal body squeak, it sounded like ten styrofoam coolers in the back seat. It wasn't that loud, but if I'm buying a car that looks this good and is in this nice condition, I don't want to be embarassed every time I have someone in the car. I asked the seller (who may be feeding me a line) and he and his co-worker said that it can be remedied by conditioning the rubber seals, etc on a periodic schedule. Is this true, or am I looking at an impossible fix?
