Yes that means you 528 owner, and you 525 owner, and you 523 owner, and you 520 owner!

Considering the power output, these babies are quite fast.

Is this a sub-category to the 528er's unite??
I have to admit, I do think the forum is a little 540i biased though...
    I have yet to see a 525i mod'd....
I guess I should get off my lazy ass and do the search...
    Power to the inline 6's!!!

As a 540 owner I would say I would never buy 525 or 528. When I used to have Lexus SC400 some black dude with white chick in his car tried to race me in the highway(he had 525). I beat the shit out of him bad. Had he been on 540 probably would have beaten me. V8 power is the best.
By the way 525 or 528 looks nice. I was thinking about taking out the 540 badge that way I would fool the people. We were talking about this at another thread.

i raced a guy in a white 528. I pulled him atleast 8 car lengths by the end of 3rd gear..... At the next light he asked me if my car was supercharged, i said "nope, just stock with a misfire and bad o2 sensors......" My car is really down on power.....

modding a 525 doesnt get you a lot more power... you will still lose to newer camrys, accords etc... hell, i dont think the 540 is worth modding. Only thing both cars should have is superchargers. Bolt on cheap mods just arent worth it IMO.

Even thou I have more than 200hp, I got to side with the inline sixes. Most of the problem cars in this E39 forum are 540's. I see a lot of @#$%@ printed by the FASSSST guys, i.e. 540 owners.

I strongly agree with that part. That's the reality.

My 528i is cool, and doesn't need to be raced. I'd rather cruise in it. IMO I've got other cars for racing. I6 cars are good for looking good, and for taking long trips, add a sporty suspension and you've got a satisfying machine.

If I wanted fast, I woulda gotten some car I couldnt fit in and been really unhappy- really quickly. I like cruising in style and not gassing up every other day , thank you very much. Long live I6's.. oh, thats right.. they do!

Apparently the 540i doesn't fare to well against the new Camrys, either. Check this thread.

Well, here we are with this ol' debate again. I own a six, I like my six, I like the gas mileage, I like the nicely high-pitched whine, etc.

I also wish I had bought a bigger motor. I'll be rectifying that mistake, though, by skipping right over the 540 in favor of something in the 7 series in a couple of years. For now, however, I'm happy and proud to own a BMW 528iT.

I'd have to buy at least 2 of those for the same HP. Hmmm.

a 540i automatic is about a half second slower in the 1/4 mile than the 6 speed. It also traps about 4 mph slower. The 6 speed will walk the automatic. A camry runs like a 14.7. That would explain why the 540iA could only pull a little on the camry.

I drove a coworker's 2007 G35s/6 the other day. Very nice car but doesn't seem as fast as my 540i/6 but the published times tell a different story. I still feel I could take him but it just may be that the G35 has too much "feel" taken out of it. A very comfortable ride though and the NAV and rear view camera are very nice.
