I'm about to SC a 2000 E39 540 with 170,000kms (just over 100,000 miles) so very interested to know if this car is still alive! Still If I got another 100,000+ miles out of it, as the OP seems to have managed that would suit me just fine!!

This thread makes me want a 540 bad! And a supercharger! How to explain that to the Minister of Finance when we recently spent over a grand renewing the suspension on the 528...

+1 also interested as I have a 179k Dinan 5 non forced induced. Mine is also very nicely maintained and I'm interested as to the reliability up in to the 200k's. I assume if it can handle a SC, that N/A will do just fine

Man this thread is a zombie revival magnet... Every 2 years or so, despite OP being gone for 7yrs now.

Parkhaus if you're interested in N/A high mileage reliablity input this ain't the way to do it. A post of a new thread in either or both E38 or E39 with a title something like "200k+ mis reliability and issues?" Would be 1000x better. There are surely some old ones like that but if there was ever a reasonable argument for a topic refresh as cars age thatd be one...

Oh I totally agree,, I'm interested but not THAT interested lol Not enough so to start a new thread,, I'd rather just drink beer and eat popcorn until he chimes back in with updates... I might get pretty drunk though..... meh.... :drink:

Civic owners do the same thing. Take a civic worth 500 bucks and slap on almost 10k worth of parts.
A Civic with a properly spent 10k would blow the doors off any E39 out there.

    A. That's retarded. Because "any E39" would have to include an E39 with 10k properly spent, which would subsequently 'blow the doors off' your stupid civic.
    B. Stop feeding the necro zombie thread revival. OP is long freakin gone, kickstarting thread for a guy who vanished 7 yrs ago is moronic.
