So every week for some reason i always lookin in my local paper for cars...and i finally saw one...a 88 m3 with 176k miles...says its in good conditon and is daily driven...apline white too! He wants 7500 firm, and im really considering this...i would have to get rid of the lease on my gti and hopefully get what i put down on it back so i can pay off most of the car. Now what should i be looking for with these cars, im not to familiar but these are my favorite cars produced and if i were to finally able to get 1, you have no idea how happy id be. How much money should i be looking into say rebuilding the engine since it has alot of miles. I know s14 parts are fairly common and it should be fairly easy to rebuild from what i've read. Thanks for any info...at 19 some people would laugh at me giving up a brand new car for a car thats almost 20 years old. I love em and i would <3 to hav 1 lol!
I saw that ad this morning, going to check it out tomorrow!

Better run Carfax. Alot of the early Alpine white cars were track school cars.

grrrr dont touch my e30 m3 its my dream and you already own 1!!!!
These cars are great but "fairly easy to rebuild" are not. Parts are available but are very expensive and I would highly recommend any rebuilding/machine work to be done by a specialist (like VAC). I just want for you to be sure that this car will require a lot more maintenance and work than your GTI and until is well sorted out you should not see it as reliable daily transportation. If you are in a very tight budget this is not the car for you. If you want a car that will be like a hobby to you this could be it but it will take a fair share of time, money, and energy from your part.
meh, i always wanted one...i would want to make it my daily, because im rebuilding my 02 as a weekend/track car
Dont do it, keep your new car. Too many miles, and it will be a headache for you to maintain. Wait until you can afford one later one, there will always be high mileage cars for decent prices out there.
Meh I bid the shit out of it but ended up loosing by 50 bucks or so, It seemed like a nice car but I have a feeling it has been bitten by the rust bug underneath it, regardless it would have made a good track car.
