M3 US Sale date will not be during Calander Year 2007

I was at a BMW CCA event tonight where the guest speaker was the former M-brand manager and current X5 brand manager. He gave a very nice talk to our club about the new X5. Afterward I asked him about the new M3. Specifically two questions. 1. Will the M3 be sold in the US this year? He told me it would not be available in the US during Calendar year 2007. 2. Are the rumors of a twin clutch gearbox true? He said that the M3 will be available with a twin clutch gearbox, and it will have a different name than SMG.

Bummer, I really thought we'd see the manual tranny versions sometime this year.

Ah Hernando, he is a good guy. The M3 will be available early next year.

Yes, Hernando is his name. I couldn't remember it last night when I wrote the post. He was a very nice guy. I only wish I went to the meeting armed with more questions to ask him.
