    Looking good

Jim what kind of "custom" stuff do you have up your sleeve now:

If you don’t mind me asking where could I pick up the 3 spoke and what is the price range?

    Thanks,

    Sean

    jim those tabs pry off
just be gentle because they break easy

on the bottom of that there are 3 prongs that stick into the wheel
problem is they fit in snug

i used 2 screwdrivers and pried them up

Nice wheel..I'm getting my Euro 3-spoke rewrapped and the only thing mine is going to be lacking is the ///M logo I'd do the cheesy thing and stick one on but there's no indent for it and it'd look like a stick-on-wanna-be....I can't wait to get it back..BTW anyone got an answer to my question about the lock/switch support for my early model Euro 3-spoke? I'm pleading for help Also anyone know what type of screws hold the bag in? The seller lost'em and I gotta get a couple of them...I wanna be damn ready to put my wheel on when it gets here

there's 2 kinds of clock springs

older style which uses a copper contact to connect the wheel/hub

and the newer style which uses a ribbon cable which spins on a rotary disc

if your 3 spoke has the rotary type, you will need to replace the lock support and clip the horn wire

the bolts that hold the bag on are lodged in the wheel itself, did he remove them?

Yup I have the ribbon type of slip ring, so therfore I will get the lock support..It's only like $4 anyway.."better safe than sorry." Thanks for that info. Now for he torx screws that go through the back of the steering wheel into the airbag to hold it on..they are not there, and he said he'll try to find them(but no luck), so I assume he removed them...Is it bad that he took them out? Are they supposed to be non-removeable? I thought they were removeable? Thanks again!

I used these instructions posted around several times. On my '98 M3, they worked well after some slight study. I would gladly make recommendations for clarity if the original author can be found.

I'll see in the next few days about the carbon fiber. I might need to wait until after Hot Import Nights unless someone has an extra pair of these to mail off.

    Jim,

I had John Kalmer do my tabs. I love the 3 spoke wheel!!!!!!!
If you do find the LTW CF please let us know. I have the LTW glovebox piece and intend to get the console too. Right now, the weaves of the tabs and the glovebox piece are different, but they are far enough apart that it's not terribly noticable. I'm sure the console would make it noticable though.

btw it looks very nice! Jim

quick question sorry kinda off topic?

by replacing a steering wheel/airbag by yourself, that was not part of the original design..even if it's an OEM part, does it "VOID" BMW liability issue when it comes to non deployment in a real life accident? or how about having the dealer replace it for you...will that void it also?

the dealer told me regarding the change would not void liability if

    1) direct replacement that was available that year
    2) the dealer must replace the steering. bc after they replace it, they do series of test to make sure it did not effect any sensors etc.

btw i would like to replace my wife's 330i w/ the E46 M3 steering wheel and for my E36 also.
