Fuel Injector Cleaner - What The Real Deal?

Is it recommened to use fuel injector cleaner. I have heard good and bad things about using it and I am a little tentative to try it out. I hear that its not effective if you don't use it every time, your car can become reliant on it, etc. Anyone have experience with it. Whats the real deal.

I use redline synthetic fuel treatment every 5 fill-ups because i drive though a lot of stop and go traffic... its just like changing your oil... and change ur fuel filter once ever 6 months...

Most of the gasoline on the market today are already formulated with this "clean engine formula" thing. I personally only fill my car with Chevron gas, because it contains Techron. Based on my search on the web, Techron is the only cleaner that works and doesn't put any harm on the engine or the seals.

I also added the concentrated Techron to my gas every now and then.

I use chevron with techron as well so I guess I don't need the cleaner then.

i recommend the professional injection cleaning. they run solvent through the fuel rail. the car runs off of the solvent alone because they disable the fuel pump. around $50.

I used some STP Fuel injection cleaner...I really didn't notice a difference in the gas mileage or the car running smoother.

I use the redline stuff and it works excellent. I noticed an improvement in mileage and in overall smoothness and performance after the first treatment. I use a bottle now at every oil change. Excellent stuff.

I am looking for my car to run a little smoother at idle and I am thinking that my fuel injectors might be dirty. I currently have 130,00 miles on the ride and I don't believe its the icv because the idle does not jump or fall, it stays stabble but the car isn't smooth. I have already had the fuel filter and spark plugs replaced so I might look to the fuel injectors next.

I just don't want my car to become reliant on the stuff that is my only concern, I have no doubt that the stuff works.

Can I pick up redline at my local auto parts store?

I also use the Redline. I put it in every 5 tanks of fuel. You can pick it up at Discount Auto Parts and Pep Boys.

BMW325IMAN - Have you noticed any difference in the way your car runs with the fuel injector cleaner.

I think when I finally get my car back, I am gonna pull the fault codes and see if anything about the injectors comes up before I start using an addative.
