I searched the rolling fenders topic but I couldn't find one that actually how to DIY...
I don't have that tool but have heard that there are other ways to do it other than that.. But that there is a chance of damaging the fenders... any thoughts?

Well I have heard of using a hair dryer and a baseball bat! You heat the fender up with the hair dryer and have a friend hold it there. Then put the baseball bat ontop of the wheel and then you pull it up and roll it around. Sounds a little risky to me and only people with a lot of practice should do it.
I actually saw that method on some ricer website that they were making fun of over at DTM a few months ago...seems quite risky and somewhat stupid to do, escpecially on our BMWs. However, I'm sure that a professional who knew what he was doing would roll it without any problem using the proper equipment. Your car is just like mine, except that its a coupe and mine is a sedan.Originally posted by Whatup1049

I just found this on a random site, this is the tool your supposed to use to roll out the fenders.
The red roller rolls on the lip of the fender. In the picture they don't have it on the lip yet.

I would suggest taking it somewhere to have it done. I tried the baseball bat method and it worked a little but you need the tool and some skill to really get it done right.

Don't mess around with something that may be irreversible. You don't want to be driving a BMW around that looks like it has "home-made" mods.
Take it to some one who knows, preferrably a pro!

roll the fender and then put on that reiger kit

The fender rolling tool is somewhere around $600. If you can get a few friends who's going to do the job on their car and split the cost. You guys will end up paying less than what shop charges and still being able to sell it after.
Hi guys, this is somewhat new to me. My 323i is fitted with a set of 205/60/15 wheels. I intend fitting on the motorsport 2 rim, the one like the M3 wheel. I think its a 225/45/17.
Do I have also have to rollout the fenders for this rim to fit?
BMW 323I
You should be ok with 225s with the M3 wheels.
Rolling the fenders is for people who have wide wheels and tires or wide offset...or both. My old wheels had an offset of 35 and I had 255/35s in the back without rolling the fenders...the end result was a big cut along the sidewall of both rear tires. Now my wheels are 38 offset, rolled fenders, and still 255/35 in the rear...no rubbing.

sorry to bring this back from the dead, but i figure why create a new thread when one is already out there?...but what kind of place would roll a fender? i called maaco(forgive me) and asked and they said they only do body work(is that not what i asked?) but hed give me pointers on how to do it, i dont want to risk my paint so i was curious if a more legit body shop would do it?
any pics of before and after fender rolling?
a body shop would do it. but i would suggest looking for a custom body shop and not an auto collision repair center like maaco. custom shops would use the roller. it really isnt that hard to roll the fender as long as you have a heat gun. the good thing about the tool is that it will give you a perfect circle. the bat method isnt all that accurate. you just have to be patient. and btw you want to 'fan' the heat gun b/c you can overheat the paint.
BMWMOFO C6MPACT
thanks. im too paranoid of messing with my paint so its worth it to me to pay some cash to have it done. should i get my suspension done before i get the rolled? or should i get them rolled before my suspension is done?
