    Wheel and Tire Fitment FAQ

This is a simple website created and hosted by a member of MyE28 that has been a great help to me and many many others.

Shawn (the creator) has sections regarding hubcentricity, what size the stock wheels are, where you'll run into issues with bigger wheels, and how you can do the work necessary to fit bigger wheels on your e28.
He also has a working spreadsheet that he and several others have added information about specific wheel/tire upgrades that fit, or can be made to fit. You can even add in the info about the wheels you're looking to purchase to see what issues you may run in to.

I asked him yesterday, and he's given permission to post it on these boards.
If possible, I think it would make a great sticky, as I already see a couple people looking for answers here.

Thanks! Still not sure how his tires are fitting, when they seem to be the wrong size, or where to find his tires (either size) without the ridiculous price.

I know this is a really late reply, but when you say "his," are you referring to me (the creator of the tutorial)? In any case, your post doesn't make sense to me -- all of the combinations have been proven to fit, and the size I'm running is 225/50-16, which is the E28 M5 size, so how are any of the sizes "wrong"? Also, I make no references to price.

Tire and wheel fitment on an E28 is really just a matter of how rude you're willing to be to the car. Note the picture; those are 12x16x23.5's on all 4 corners, on 12x16 wheels.

Unfortunately, they weren't as fast (autocross) as the 285x30x18's Kumho 710's I've now returned to...but they sure looked great!

    25x13x16's.

Yes, '04 330i, as I recall. It was free, and already black, too.

I have just purchased these wheels for my car. He says they are BMW M3 Replicas and believes the width of the wheel to be 8" but doesn't know for sure. The tyres mounted are 225/45/17.

It has snow tyres on it now, but in the summer I want to put on wide grippy things. How wide do you think I can go?

i just read that the center bore size of these won't fit on my E28.. oh shit! already paid for..

pleez someone tell me this isn't true - is there somewhere i can find more info about these specific wheels?

Everything BMW except E39's and some later big models have the same centerbore. If you have an E39 centerbore, which seems unlikely, you can buy centering rings from Tire rack.

Had to go to bigger tires. Fastest Time of Day by over four seconds.

I"m diggin it! I have a set of parallels sitting around somewhere...
First BMW was an 88 M3 bought in 1992... I got down on my knees and bowed to it... I've never looked back!
