Music through the ages..... what are the 2000's considered?

Alright so you have the golden oldies ( 50's/60')
You have disco mania ( 70's)
You have the fashion deprived 80's classics...
You have the alternative revolution ( 90's)

What do you think 00-10 is going to be? I honestly see a HUGE dance music revolution... i mean everyone is starting to listen to trance / dance music.
Here in dallas, a new station 106.7 started up about 6 months ago has become one of the most listened to stations in half a year! It took over ratings from Kiss 106 !!!! Wow.. talk about a change in taste....

Dance??? HELL NO. I barely know ANYONE that listens to that shit. Trance is ok and all, but dance is just gay. I hate that crap where they have some damn woman singing all throughout the background, that is just pure shit. I think rap is going to be ruling. I mean, look at all the billboard charts, there is ALWAYS a rap/hip hop song on the top 10. R&B sucks, so screw that. I think it is definitely going to be rap/hip hop

yeah, it's definately going to be rap. Regular MTV plays mostly rap, there is MTV 2 which plays mostly rap, there is MTV hits, which plays some rap, and there is MTV Jams, which only plays rap. There is so much fucking rap, it is unbelievable.

I agree, the majority dance is poorly made, add a beat, some hi-hats, a cymbal and a chick singing and it's an awsome song.

I'm into trance in a big way, having migrated from tekno and gabba 9 years ago (a 10 yr old!) I have a bitch every now and then about poorly produced music.

My prediction? A hell of a lot of genre-swapping. There will be a big 'Neo-pop' movement when great producers make big bucks on pop artists (Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, van Helden, van Dyk, the Neptunes, et al)

It will be the decade of the Remix.

Aaron, you are an idiot to think 106.7 is the best to offer dance music. EdgeClub offered the best in electronic music way before anyone else has done, since '91. And unliek 106.7, EdgeClub plays REAL electronic music, NOT some cheesy dance songs like Heaven or Castles in the Sky. There are some songs I like that they play on 106.7, but a lot of the stuff they play is from the mid to late 90's. They don't play good dance music. Period. If you want to listen to good electronic music, listen to EdgeClub instead, at least they don't play those God-awful freestyle Asian breakbeats like you hear out of any Asian car these days. :-/

By the way, the mid-to-late 90's was known as the beginning of British electronica and big beat, but sadly, it faded away.

well for you guys that don't like dance thats cool but you have probably never herd of any of the good stuff. just like most music all the good stuff is not on the radio. just keep your mind open still. there are maney differnt types of techno like, dance, club, house, electronica, euro, trance, etc. i am very picky on what techno i like but that is all thats basically in my collection.

i would say it would eather be Hip-Hop or techno.

LOL! No no no... dont get me wrong. 106.7 is NOT by far a good example of good trance. No pepe.... i am into

Digweed, Yoji , Lisa Lashes, Jason Midro, Toxic Twins, Youri... I love Nu NRG and Hardcore House... not that bullshit trance on 106.7

I was using that station as an example to show that people are leaning more towards trance music than anything. And i agree with you.... edgeclub rocks.

I haven't heard any dance music on the radio, just a couple shit songs they play on the pop stations. The pop station in my area just plays popular hip hop songs right now. It is definitely going to be hip hop. I mean, the song of the year was basically Hot In Herre by Nelly. I heard that stupid ass song EVERY 10 mins on the radio over the summer

I don't understand how people think this is going to be the decade of electronica when barely any, if any, radio stations play it, and you NEVER see any single song on a Billboard chart. Sorry, but I HIGHLY doubt electronica will ever be really popular, enough to the point where it will have songs at the top of the charts

Exactly! This is why I can't stand dance/techno music. All [ok most] of the songs are the same thing over and over...listen to the first few seconds of a dance songs, and they will play that same few seconds over and over again. It gets boring after awhile. If I wanted to hear the same thing over and over, they should make the song 10 seconds and then have people just put it on "repeat" on their CD players. They would be able to put a lot of tracks on a CD that way. And save money.

About 106.7....the only reason it is so popular is because it is commercial-free.
