I'm pretty sure there will be a lynching later. lol just kidding. Since we've 'come out' we've been ostracized.

sweet! welcome!
can someone make this a sticky?
Just another Z3 owner. My first real BMW. Currently the toy barn has nine various vehicles pleasing the Misouri tax department no end! Wife and Kid have Mini Cooper Ss, and I needed something neat and reliable for a daily driver.
Impressed with the Mini/BMW experience, I thought I'd try a Z car. I guess I'm old fashioned (age 60ish) and lean more toward the traditional roadster body style of the Z3 cars. At 6'2" I don't fit in most ricers. So after about a year looking, It's a nice 2000 MZ3 in Ti Silver with 34k showing little use and new Mich.Pilots.
Only issues so far are minor: blown speakers (replaced with Quarts) and bum sub amp. Working my way educating myself on these neat little cars reading posts following links and getting familiar with the bb style here.
Too new to post much so that's about it.
Best,
Ken
I'm Wyatt, I've been lurking since my wife and I got our 02' Z3 Coupe but I just joined a couple of weeks ago. I started a thread when I first joined so this may be redundant but this seems to be the official "hello" spot. So far all we have done is replace the stock CD player but the previous owner had done some suspension upgrades. So far we are loving the experience of owning this car! My wife, who has never been into cars at all, even called me the other day to say "I just saw a Dinan X5"!
Greetings...I've had my 2000 M coupe now for about 4-5 months.
Always liked them but didn't have the budget until just recently.
I'm very pleased with the handling, power, and comfort this car provides.
I'm the sales manager for Lotus of Portland, so I'm no stranger to cars that handle well! One of these days I'd like to park an Elise next to the M coupe in my garage!
My roots are with motorcycling. I'm definitely a bike fanatic so my need for speed stems from many years riding sportbikes and moto-x. Hopefully I'll be out at the track next year with the car...planning on autocross as well.
Oh yeah...my clutch is on its way out...so if anyone has any tips or advice...I'd love to hear from you.
Cheers!
Okay. I'll fill in the blanks.
History:
Grew up surrounded by sports cars and club racing.
Made a hobby of sports cars and club racing.
Made a career out of sports cars and club racing
Got totally disgusted and burned out with sports cars and club racing.
Revectored career, sold all the sports cars and bought a sport bike.
After 150K miles of sport bikes, the sports car bug started ceeeping back in. I went looking for something akin to the MG's and Healeys of yore. S2000s, Miata's, and even Z3's just didn't do it. I finally drove up to the Lotus dealer 150 miles away to look at an Elise. Stopped on the way to look at an M Roadster that was in the paper. I bought the M and never even made it to the Lotus dealer.
The car in question is a 99 arctic silver M Roadster with way too many miles, but quite clean and straight. I've had it 18 months and 6K miles. Due to family issues, now is the first *real* spare time I have to work on the car. It came with Hamann HM2s, Hamann pedals, Konis, strut brace (strong strut), rear brace (butt strut??), chromed roll bars, some sort of exhaust, cold air tube, probably some sort of software/chip (how can you tell??) and who knows what all else.
Oh, and J. Randy Forbes is not my Congressman... he's the next district over.
hi from the uk, I have a 98 m. roadster in imola red, and am slowly learning of its quirks, love the power and handling .
This is my first Z3 love it. It's better then my big Healy's and 280Z.
I have 2 other Beamers a 91, 325IC rag top and a 87, 325E and my 52 MGTD and if you want to count it my wife's Explorer.
I try to do all my own repairs and mods. I was given my Z by God, My good friend told me about it and that the owner only wanted $2,500 for it He had hit a dog and the EML, ABS, Air Bag, and transimission lights were on and it limped in 3rd gear The dealer estimated 10,000 to14,000 dollars for repairs. So I looked and drove it. the only body damage was the drivers mirrior and 2 car door dents in the drivers door, broken seat belt guides, pitted air dam and lights due to daily driver on gravel roads. So I bought it figuring that at warst case I would have to part it out.
The problem ended up being a blown fuse do to a pinched power wire in the fuel filter area, and a bad connector on the driver seat causing the air bad problem.
Been having a ball driving it, I thought that I would never want traction and stabilty control boy was I wrong. The rain and switchback roads changed my mind and possiblity that I'm getting slower.
I'm Simon, a 35 year old wine director and restaurant guy, (Who doesn't want to get paid to drink??) My affair started in 2000/2001 when I saw a Estoril M Coupe whilst driving my '74 TVR 2500M. The coupe looked like the grown up, adult version of the TVR and it was love at first sight.
7 years, 1 divorce, 2 lay-offs and a career change later I find myself engaged to a beautiful, intelligent woman who shares a passion for the unusual and fast.....she picks up her R8 in march.
After two years of looking and not finding a car that I was really prepared to put money down on, the prospects of a dream not coming true, I had pretty much settled on the idea that in a couple of years I'd try looking for an affordable Z4 M coupe. Imagine my surprise when on christmas day the fiancee introduced me to my new lover, my very own fat bottomed girl, silver skinned and shiney. Lithe, athletic with plenty of balls, thats right boys she bought me a 99 M Coupe with 40k on the clock.
She is shopped right now getting some minor touch-ups, although from reading the subframe threads I might want them to really look at that, and I can't wait to go cruising with my skinny mini and the fat bottomed girl.
Here's to see you all around.
PS. I found the site by googling Z3 M Coupe forums, US

This sounds like my tale..... only that now I have 2 obsessions, once I got used to bikes after about a 3 year indoctrination at tracks all over the mid-west, I turned my attention back to cars, and now I blow twice the money...... This speed thing and cool car thing is more addictive then any drug out there......
Welcome and hope you get a chance to track your car, you will love it. The Lotus depending on the year, would be a nice addition as well, but far far less reasonable.
BMW E36, the new Honda Civic of tuning.
Im Leo, a 31 year old Computer Assistant. I fell in love with the Z's when I was in high school and found a stateside spec 1.9 with a stick just waiting for me here in Japan after I got out of the service. I bought it in 2001 with 14k miles on her and it has a been a love affair ever since.
Unforntunately for everyone else, I'm from NY and love bling, always have, always will. I try to do it in moderation but sometimes can't help it. Needless to say, I love my Z and I shined her up asap and don't want her looking any other way!
I wanted a little go for the show so I Dasc'd, lightweight flywheeled it and did up the suspension. She is ready for the track but I baby the hell out of her and am satisfied zipping around on the street when I get a wild hair. I keep sinking money into her and love it.
Looking for a bike now, wouldnt mind a K1200RS

American Spec in Japan
Since ythe dawn of the Z3, I have lusted for her fine lines, sweet seats, and awesome engine. When I first saw her, I knew I had to have one someday, but being a college student paying my own way through school... it was not an option. Graduation lead to marriage, lead to children, lead to less "available" funds, not more. Just when I thought I would never have the pleasure of owning her, my husband shocked me. For my 12th anniversary, my loving, darling, (can get anything he wants now) husband, surprised me with a alpine white 2001 3.0 74K elcellent condition Z3. She had perfect interior, only exception is the saggy glove box - don't we all sag a little when we get older??? and a few blown speakers, we loose our hearing too don't we???
And so, after the test drive of my life - holding my breath around every curve, I drove her off the lot, and my life began. She has a special place in our garage, and very rarely see's bad weather. She sucessfully took me to the airport on time... and enjoyed the oppertunity to fly there. She has seen the ocean and the Texas Hill Country with it's windy roads and beautiful landscape.
Her first mod was the BSW sound upgrade with all new speakers, bass amp, and 8" inch sub with new enclosure between the rollbars. Now she thumps! Her next mod was a lexan windblock with a nice tint. Then, my husband gave her a "boob job" with ultra star bulbs, 6 in all. Now she shines brighter and is a little perkier!
I have been reading this forum for a long time, but could not really feel good about joining until I had my own Z3. Once I got her in September '07, I didn't have much to say, so I just recently joined. I enjoy and appreciate your MODs, DIY info, and all the Zlove I see here. I hope I am not the only woman here!!!
- Happy Driving!
Hi All. Brian Hanstad here (aka "Vegas DMD") . Age 34 and a new dentist in Las Vegas. I own a 2002 BMW M-coupe.
Great story on how I accidentally fell into coupehood as I came across my car in the back lot of a local Bentley dealer. The dealer had NO clue on what the car was and let it go for the steal of the century ($21K w/ 75K highway miles).
I am the one to talk to when it comes to high milage S54's as I am currently @ 108K and running like a top!!!
I have adressed alot of the shortcomings of the car with go-fast goodies including:
---Shark Chip (8100 RPM redline)
---UUC Stage 2 flywheel/ M5 clutch
---K+N intake
---VPD underdrive pulleys
---Strong strut
---IE Subframe + RTA bushings
---GC Adjustable springs
---Koni SA sport shocks
---3.46 Limited Slip Diffy
I get kinda busy with career and all, but when I can I enjoy doing both BMWCCA high performance driving schools and full on, gung-ho SpeedVentures open racing days.
Welcome to several more new members!
I pop in this thread from time to time and its interesting to see all the new people coming and a little background.

Hey All,
My name is Scott and I'm a 42 year old Pharmacist in Paris, TN. I've always admired the shape of the Z3, so after years of driving a 92 Toyota pickup (80 horsepower maybe?) I picked up a Cosmos Black '98 Z3 M. It's got only 30k miles on it and in fantastic shape.
So far the only mod is a LeatherZ armrest, but I'm eyeing the stereo as a next project. I'm enjoying all the forums - especially the car care posts. Nice to meet you all
Greetings to all!
Great to see so many new members joining in recent times. You'll love this forum.
Cheers,

Hi my name is Rich.I have been on this forum for about four months.I retired last year ,I was Process Manager of rolls and bearings for a large steel producing company(Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel) so I have a strong back round with percision machinery, even with my mechanical knowledge I find this forum more than helpful there are some really sharp thinking people here that are vary willing to help another BMW owner. In Oct. my wife told me for as many years that I have worked get the car I always wanted so I purchased a 2000 Z3 2.3 roadster .It is a lot of fun but I have already done several modifications really interesting and fun.
My name is Mike, im 18, and live in the middle of nowhere. So far I have had a 1996 318i when I was 16, sold that, bought a 2000 323i when I was 17, sold that, and 2 mouths ago I bought a White 2000 M roadster that I might keep for a while---haha. I love my car, but the roads here aren't to great to drive on---anyway,this website's tigght and im looking forward to learning more about my car
I have been member of this Board for about a year now, so it might be time for an intro.. Bill, 56, Alpharetta, GA. Iowa Hawkeye. Parrothead.
I bought my first BMW in January 2004 - a 2000 M Coupe, Cosmos Black with Beige. Headed off to my first Road Atlanta track day, got hooked.
In February 2007 I went out to San Diego to check out a 2002 M Coupe at Autobahn West - Steel Gray with black. Exactly what I was looking for, it came to them with a 6 speed swap with 3.46, sport mode button, Projector Z's with HID, and Leather Z Home Link. They added the TC Kline D/A suspension with springs and cambers, H&R sways, and a BMW factory fin on the hatch.
I had the car shipped from San Diego to Toledo so Randy Forbes could do his trunk floor and diff mount handiwork. We added a Super Sprint exhaust because the stock won't fit with his set up.
Back in Atlanta, I had Bavarian Soundwerks do their speaker upgrade and a Panasonic/Sirius/Bluetooth. Great sound and at night the panel color matches perfectly with the gauges. I also added the leather Z spare tire (with Ron Stygar mount) and sunroof shade, CocoMats, clear lenses, spacers to tilt the seats, and did the glove box fix. Then it was a UUC clutch line, SS brake lines, and UUC slotted front rotors.
The bad news is that I only had the car for a month before I heard the engine rattle. The good news is that I now have a new crankshaft and bearings.
I love this car. It is my daily driver, and I just don't care if I rack up the miles - currently 60K. I really enjoy the local CCA Road Atlanta driving schools, and have done other solo track days at Roebling and Road Atlanta. No autocross yet. The BMW community has been a lot of fun, and I look forward to getting to know more of you.
