Question about wheel size and offset potential for our cars

Just came across a rare set of wheels that I think would look sick on my car. Only, there is on possibly huge problem, the offset is ET12. They are 17x8 ET12. Basically I'm asking, is there any chance in hell that I can get these to fit without really F'n up my fenders? I'd be down for fender rolling and possibly a slight pull, but that is about it.

Now, someone please school me on this:

    http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...ighlight=gotti

His wheels are 17x9 ET24, would 17x8 ET12 stick out more than his, or less. If I understand offsets correctly, which is still up in the air, then his rims stick out 3.55 inches from the hub. (Half of 9 is 4.5 'dead center' 24mm = .95inch, so 4.5 - .95 = 3.55) Doing that same math on 17x8 with ET12 comes out with 3.525 from the hub.

Is that even remotely accurate or doable? TIA

et12 would take a lot of work to put on your M3.

do you have any pics of these wheels?

btw your math is a little off above,

here is a good little read for you on the offsets

You could do it by doing the following:
    Run 225 width tires.
Run -3 camber front (swap '96+ strut hats) and -2.5 camber rear.
    Roll and pull the fenders.
    Run a stockish ride height.

Those wheels better be mad FLY and cazy rare to justify the above.

Depends on your drop and the size of your tires, 17x8 et12 stick out about 1 more inch than any conventional 17x8 et 38

Thanks for all of your input fellas...

My ride height is stock, I figured that my math was off, here is a pic of the wheels in question.

    Cute wheels.
More appropriate for a ti than an M3, IMHO.
    Don't do it.

This is a link to an offset calculator. Pretty self explanatory, Type in your original width and offset, and then your new width and offset, and it will calculate the difference in clearnence on both sides of the hub.
