What size rim can I put on my 328 without having to modify anything?

Right now I have 15's and they are alright looking but im thinking about 19's and 20's did cross my mind but after looking around I'm thinking more along the line of 18's. I'm not going with anything to fancy was just curious as to what i could fit before I actually go out and buy them. A little more information is I'm getting out the military and will be moving from Hawaii to North Carolina and dont plan on getting the rims until i get there due to shiping prices and jsut the overall high cost of living here!

    The car is a 1998 328is

18's in my opinion are too big , too heavy, hurt handling and tires cost more. You should really go for 17's thats just my opinion but people with fender rolling have gotten 19's

Even the Sept 2006 guy has been around long enough to know you don't put 20s on an e36.

    +1 to his statement.

17s are the perfect size for these cars, with 18s being more for looks than performance.

    18's are good.

17's are too small on e36's unless the width is 9 and wider.

Without having to modify anything... ie: fender rolling? Probably 17 then. Correct me if I'm wrong guys.

I have a 328i with 17s and 225 40 tires on them... no rubbing issues at all, even with 5 people in the car. (stock suspension)

I'm lowered maybe an inch and 17's work with just occasional rubbing in the rear when accelerating from a stop over an intersection with a hump.

19" look pimp on some cars and depends on the wheel. they definitely hurt performance but if you only care about show go ahead and they fit.

18" is the best since it is a step up from 17 and looks great while not hurting performance much.

17" is the best size for performance but in this day and age they look so small and don't really look all that good unless you have ltws, contours, and are lowered a lot to make them look bigger than they are.
I have "No" sympathy for any women who's occupation is a stripper. I think she got just what she deserved. She should have more respect for herself than to flaunt her body in front of a bunch of guys. It is like dangling a steak in front of a lion and not expect him to go after it. How stupid can she be? How did she ever get accepted to college with her lack of common sense?

in my opinion i wouldnt bother with 18's not even worth it the tires can be liek $50-100 more per tire. but if money is not an option. and they are usally heavy unless you buy a expensive rim.

Disagreed, I think 17" is the perfect balance of wheel size and sidewall height. Hell I think that the 16" sport wheels go great with the look of the car, as someone else in this thread agreed with.

Some sidewall looks good people, take for instance old muscle cars with their huge tires and small wheels, I think the look of classic mustangs for instance gets ruined when you decide to eliminate the sidewall with 20" rims. A more agressive look IMO than the ever so popular "rolling on bare metal" look.

i have staggerd 18s 9 in back and 8 in front, and they look great and they dont negativly effect the performance at all. i didnt have to modify the fenders at all. pretty much the fatter the tire the better in my opinion, no matter what the size is of the rim

18's look good with rolled fenders and 1.5'' drop.
