Do you know which style distributor cap and rotor it has? I need a cap that is matched for the bolt-on style rotor.

excellent, thank you. With the distributor cap, its hard to say by looking, unfortunately i think you may need to take it off, but if you type in your vin# at realoem.com, it might say what exactly is on the car.

    Hows the interior?

My gramps has a 633csi sitting in his shop that one of his clients isnt using, I was thinking about approaching him and buying it as a project car, but its 1/2 way missing its interior.

also because I dont feel it deserves its own thread, would the car be worth putting money into? I think it runs and its got a clean striaght body, but its been sitting for about 6-7 months now. ie. should I just find a 635?

Nice snag man, you just beat me to this one No hard feelings.

let me know about the manual swap. If you wanted to part the thing down too I'd be willing to take the whole shell off your hands with whatevers left as long as the manual parts are there.

Tranny, shifter, driveshaft, pedals, master cyl, lines, reservoir and hose I guess. Can't think of anything else.

    Anyhow let me know.

The guy you bought the car from gave me your phone #, let me know if it'd be cool to call you tomorrow.

    Thanks
    -Sam

if all the car needs is the interior and the basics to get it running, it will probably be worth it if you are looking for a fun project. being that you said project and not daily driver, then you know its going to take some work, and its actually pretty cheap to work on these cars with your own set of tools cause the labor is the expensive part. id say go for it, there is nothing wrong with the 633csi's, performance is near the same and parts are the same as the 635csi's as long as the production date is past 5/82.

Too bad it is an E28 base, otherwise I'd be interested if it had a LSD side loader.

The int parts will give you good money, and now would be a good time if anybody needs some panels.

    Best of luck.

It'd be a project until I got it the way I wanted it, or it required a part (ie. a manual tranny) that I'd have to sell my Z for. After I got it dialed in it'd become a daily for me. I still haven't talked to my gramps about it. Needless to say if it did ever become mine I'd be sure to do a full photo doc thread on it, I love those threads...I'm such a lurker around here

That Z is looking like a good car, ive always been interested in the old ones, especially the datsun's. my favorite japanese cars are the old skylines, datsun 510's, and the Z coupes. Are you talkin about doing an auto to manual swap in the 6er or it just needs a new tranny?

Well before I say anything I dont actually know if the auto in it is good or not, but one of my dream cars is a manual 6er with some crazy motor in it. Since the crazy motor isnt in my budget the manual part would be very awesome in my eyes.

I love my Z don't get me wrong, but I just don't know what to do with it. It's too small a car to be usefull for more than it is right now, my get-around town car. My heart is set on an old bimmer of some sort, and the 6er is a possibility.

Got your PM, thanks again for the heads up.

I just got it! I call the guy, set up a deal, see the Re-united Roth-Halen, then drive back with a manual 6-er! I'm not too big on the orange, but ya gotta pick your battles.

Hello everybody I apologize for my slowness. I have been away in Vermont and before that I stepped on my keyboard while wearing work boots. I've got 14's so it was a bit of a mess.

The car does not have a front lower aerodynamics kit. It has a plain valence without fogs and from the looks of it nobody would be interested because it is thrashed. I am trying to upload pics onto the computer.

I have the stainless door strips
    a center console.
Every window switch you could dream of.
    A sunroof motor.
Drivers and passenger blue door panels. Small crack on the drivers side.
    Glove box.
Engine and 5 speed tranny 150,000 (I think it has a short shift installed. I need to verify that though)
    Stock Exhuast good shape.
Any other things you can think of?
