There's a table key following the table that specifies that the average odometer is in miles. I need to modify this so that km are displayed to members logged in from outside the U.S. and the UK. With the fuel economy survey this has been done since the beginning.
We've updated the results for the 5-Series to include owner experiences through September 30, 2010. Other sources of car reliability information won't cover the months since April until the summer or even fall of next year.
Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:
2009: 31, better than average, more participants needed to split by engine
2008 528/550/M5: 56, about average
2008 535: 71, about average
2007: 111, worse than average
2006: 122, worse than average
2005: 50, better than average, but very small sample size and results for other years suggest that this one is not accurate
2004: 150, worse than average
2003: 90, about average
2002: 83, better than average
2001: 234, small sample size; actual repair frequency probably lower but still worse than average
2000: 117, about average
1999: 128, about average
Sample sizes small for all but the 2006, 2007, and 2008. This likely explains some inconsistencies from model year to model year. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.
Thank you, once again, to everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in February and May.

Considering the bad quality of diesel here, I'm at 120k kilometres and will need to change turbo soon. But otherwise I could say I'm quite happy with e60 diesels
Always had experience with bimmers being really reliable.
