    Cross reference OEM radio

I currently have a 325i with an Alpine cassette deck which just took a dump, at least I think so anyway. But want to upgrade easily by just swapping out the HU.I want to know which bmw radio models would swap out a CM-5901 KE-91. Theres no model tag on this unit so I'm going by what I've found searching the forum and net. I'd like a cd deck.

Do I understand that you want to replace with a BMW stock unit only?

Yes, I really don't want to go thru the trouble of rewiring. I'd much rather just plug and play. If of course the prices for a say an ebay radio are within reason. Then of course I'd look at after market. And then again I'm not sure if they make a "plug and play" unit.

I suggest that you try the Crutchfoeld site to see what after market stereo will fit. From there you should be able to determine of it is DIN 1. If so, there are many BMW options to choose from ebay. Be warned though, these fetch the same or more than a better performing aftermarket unit.

Thanks for the info BB. Any ideas on where the amp is on the unit and what it looks like? Would I need to replace the amp also:
The radio/cassette crackles so its prolly bad caps which I would replace on the unit I get the other items fixed (mirrors, headliner).
and yes I tried contact cleaner on the volume knob.
