The inevitable happened, I blew my driver's rear speaker. Now I get this wonderful sound that is like a bee stuck right behind me. I like my music, this sucks.
I'm going to upgrade my speakers but due to the holiday season, I can't go all out right now. I'm going to be in the car for 9 hours next week driving up to Ohio and this buzzing will driving me crazy! So if you have a 5.25" woofer speaker from an E39 DSP system (the one in the rear deck) then please let me know! I really only need one to get me by for about a month. I'm Paypal verified, eBay glorified and my car is giving me a headache so please help me out here! Thanks guys!
Again what I need:
Size: 5.25" woofer (why BMW used a 5.25" woofer beats me!)
System: E39 (540i 99') DSP sound system
Location: Rear deck, driver's side (passenger side should work); it is the one that is in the "Nokia" box mounted in the truck; hell if you have both I'll buy them!
Annoying: Way too much...
Price: Can they really be worth that much? Please help stop this headache...

I have a similar problem...except that I blew the one on the passenger side...I used the fader to keep the sound away from the blown speaker...very temporary fix but I hear you about the buzzing...Meanwhile I looked at some of the speakers they have in electronic stores. Only reason I have not got one is I have not found the time to remove the blown one and find a replacement...
When I find a permanent fix I will share...keep us posted buddy
