replacing head unit while keeping factory amp?

    hey guys,

do any of you know if they make an interface that lets you change your head unit while using the stock amps and speakers?

I know I'll lose steering wheel controls, but I'd rather much have a Audio/TV unit than a plain looking CD player.

i've got a 330I with H/k, and I just want a better head unit. Plus, an aftermarket head unit will have a dedicated sub out to where I can run a amp/sub setup from while using the current amp and speakers for my mids and highs?

    Is there such a device?

    Thanks!

Yes. Try to use a deck that has a wide range of volume adjustment. Example: Kenwood volume = 1 to 35, not so good. Eclipse volume = 1-80, good. The reason is because you will be feeding the speaker level outputs to the factory amp and you don't want to have a large change in signal for each increment of volume adjustment. There are wire harness adapters available to add an aftermarket deck to your factory wiring. Try a car audio store or Crutchfield. Jay
