    Question

I am going to order a set of wheels and tires tomorrow...17 x 8" wheels. Should I get 225-45/17, 235-45/17 or 235-40/17 tires? Will 225's fit an 8" rim?

    Thanks,
    Chris

225s will fit fine on 17x8s.....

if you want 225s go 225/45/17

if you want 235s go 235/40/17

good luck.... now u jus' gotta chose which setup u want.

I dunno if 235s would fit well on an 17x8 rims.... i'd say go for 225/45/17s

Everything Richard said, but the 235/40 would fit fine. 225/45 would be an itsy bitsy bit too small for the rim width, and 235/40 would be an itsy bitsy bit too large for the rim width, and since those are really the only two choices, its just a matter of personal taste.

I run 235 square (pilot sport 4S) and I feel like it's a sweet spot (M3). Square doesn't give you the understeer and 235 with zero toe is neither tramlining nor crashy. I usually put 225 square snows on in October and always notice the mushy feel of the sidewalls immediately. (yes Blizzaks are a totally different tire but even forgetting that they're "looser")
