Question Under hard acceleration (0-60, 1/4mile etc.)

Under hard acceleration (0-60, 1/4mile etc.) I noticed clutch-sliping kind of effect, when upshifting from 1st to 2nd. Its as if I hold the clutch half way down for 1 sec or less. Is this normal. My car is 99 M3 with 30km. This happens even with ASC off. Dealer says clutch is ok. Please help!:

This sounds like what I was trying to describe a while back -- do you notice it when you do a very fast shift - like it doesn't lock into the lower rev right away, but sort of eases into it even though your foot is off the clutch? That's what I've been noticing, and I just had a new clutch installed about a month ago.

The same this is happening to me, but not only my 1st to 2nd gear, its also my 2nd to 3rd gear that is slipping. I am looking right now to buy a new clutch kit, and while I'm doing this I might as well put in a LTW flywheel as well. But after reading the post, sounds like even changing out my clutch might not work....hmmmmm :

I remember reading on alt.autos.bmw that the clutch 'guibo' can cause this. Don't know what a guibo is other than that it's a rubber disc which is part of the clutch assembly. No idea what it does though.

Someone with more technical knowledge on clutches will have to answer that one.

Guibo is evil. I had mine replaced. Its a little plastic piece that connects something to the tranny... i think its around the driveshaft or something. Mine was cracking and if it let go the driveshaft would go flying. BMW did this under warranty. I replaced my clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate (sachs sport clutch disc, all else stock) and the car sticks MUCH better. It might be a number of things, but i don't recall my 96 doing that. My friends 99 if i recall right was fine with the clutch.

    Get it checked out soon,

yes, the guibo goes between the tranny output shaft and the driveshaft. it is designed to soften the shock a little to the DS. it has nothing to do with the clutch. i have deystroyed a guibo too.
when i bent my drivshaft, my guibo was no longer in a circle shape.

Does anybody have any pics of the clutch Guibo, or the exact location of it?
