    01 E38 Sill Strip replacement

I have purchased a new set of Sill Strips. (plastic trim between rocker panel and carpet p/n 51 47 8 174 501 etc) I did not see any instructions on E38.org for removal/replacement. Does anyone know the best way to proceed? Thank you.

The interior colored ones? (Not the black/chrome part that says BMW?)

Pry upwards and inwards... upwards and slightly towards the dome light. You might break some of the white plastic clips but they are not terribly expensive. (Don't ask me how I know that )

Rear ones have one screw towards the back of the car (plus the clips) to remove.

I found these instructions over on BimmerBoard...pretty much like M Wongs...except this guy used a large flat head screw driver and suggest lifting off the rear bottom seat cushion to access the screws that hold the rear sill strips in: http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/34034/

    Thanks guys. Your the best.
If a clip does break, it there any chance that a piece of clip would fall under floor/sill and be unretrievable? Can a piece get stuck in the hole and be in the way of a new clip?

Doubt that should be a problem. White clips break but needle nose pliers work to pull it out. The rail on the interior color trim itself, that holds the clip, can break too, which yields smaller shards of plastic, but that shouldn't be an issue.
