How do articles, car of the month and event coverage cost money? I'm sure the writers and photographers don't get paid for their work.

Look at VWVORTEX.COM. That's a HUGE forum that has all that you mention, and manages to get by quite successfully without having to charge their members.

It's one thing to have a fund raising drive, offer products for sale to raise funds or a product raffle, it's quite another to charge for access.

I guess even tho it's not alot of money, I'm still wondering where the funds will be going, as it'll turn into a large sum, even if everyone doesn't donate.

Is dtmpower a forum or a business?

Bandwidth costs money!! I think a lot of sites just are lucky and have access to free or inexpensive bandwidth. I can understand completely why they're charging...but I think there are other options rather than charge the membership...

HighSpeedDubbin.com was the og VW club for us down here, I was "founder" but sold my GTI last spring, I bought my e36 in May. I still have plenty of love for the VW's though. What about you, you had a red rabbit didn't you?

Even though i dont think anyone will read this far into this post, ill put this up just for the hell of it:

    Name: Sean KF
On BF.C I go by: Analog or Sean, watever doesnt matter to me
    Location: Winchester, MA
    Age: 17
    Car: 2001 330ci w/ sport package *stock*
How far you're willing to drive for a meet: depends on when
Best times to meet: During the summer or weekends
Type of place to meet: where ever

ALSO: please dont think im just some stupid kid who drives a brand new bimmer that daddy bought me. first of all, it was not bought for me, it just kinda ended up in my hands due to a lose of a family member. Second of all, I do NOT take this car for granted. Third of all, I AM NOT RICH, i come from a middle class family, and the family member who bought this car always dreamed of getting a car like this, so after a while they did. And lastly, i can probably drive just as well as all of u out there, and am probably almost just as knowledgeable, if not more about cars. And the same thing goes for my love of cars and racing.

srry i just had to clear that up before anybody passed any judgements about me...
