How do articles, car of the month and event coverage cost money? I'm sure the writers and photographers don't get paid for their work.
Look at VWVORTEX.COM. That's a HUGE forum that has all that you mention, and manages to get by quite successfully without having to charge their members.
It's one thing to have a fund raising drive, offer products for sale to raise funds or a product raffle, it's quite another to charge for access.
I guess even tho it's not alot of money, I'm still wondering where the funds will be going, as it'll turn into a large sum, even if everyone doesn't donate.
Is dtmpower a forum or a business?

Bandwidth costs money!! I think a lot of sites just are lucky and have access to free or inexpensive bandwidth. I can understand completely why they're charging...but I think there are other options rather than charge the membership...
actually
seeyouonthestreet.com paid me for my event coverage articles
quite considerably too

ALSO: please dont think im just some stupid kid who drives a brand new bimmer that daddy bought me. first of all, it was not bought for me, it just kinda ended up in my hands due to a lose of a family member. Second of all, I do NOT take this car for granted. Third of all, I AM NOT RICH, i come from a middle class family, and the family member who bought this car always dreamed of getting a car like this, so after a while they did. And lastly, i can probably drive just as well as all of u out there, and am probably almost just as knowledgeable, if not more about cars. And the same thing goes for my love of cars and racing.
srry i just had to clear that up before anybody passed any judgements about me...
word, welcome to the forum.
Anyone here putting their car in Import Xpression , This April 12 , 2003 ?? @ Bayside ExpoBoston .
