Oh my, finaly i found a right topic, helpful thanks a lot
This is helpful, its been 6 years and I just now realized the ten post thing....
Newish member here (haven't posted but a couple of times for years). Posted in the E60 forums via the mobile app, didn't realize there was a mod approval period, and later posted a second, abbreviated reply via the web and saw the approval notice.
Didn't mean to be a dolt, I really didn't know/remember from the 2 posts years ago. The second posting doesn't have to be approved.
According to my profile I have 127 posts and still have limitations. Anyone know why?

By posts does it mean how many replys i give or how many threads i read?
Right, following the rules!
Ok, now I see why I can't do anything having pictures involved. Including a profile pic....weird but ok.
I tried to start a thread in the "Engine conversions" forum, but as soon as I clicked "submit post" I switched to another tab. Moments later, I realized my thread wasn't around, so I guessed it was a matter of expired session, but luckily (for me), I had the text saved in notepad, so I started another, identical thread.
It was just then that I saw the text explaining that my thread was submitted for moderator approval.
Is it the fact that I'm new in the forum the reason for my thread needing approval, or is it standar procedure for every thread ever?
Also, I have just now read that I need at least 15 posts to be able to use images and url's. I did happen to use a certain number of images in my thread, i.e. thumbs for pictures I have in my album on postimg... Could that be the reason why my thread hasn't been approved for a day yet, and might never be?
Hi,
NEVERMIND! I figured-out how to get to that spot. Maybe the option was not available until I read through certain things. Sorry to take your time. I see how to make a new post now. Thanks.
This is what I previously posted: "I am brand new member to this forum; but not brand new to PHP fora. I have also been reading threads here for months. This forum has been very helpful for me -- I am new to BMWs as I just purchased my car about three months ago. Now my car is all busted-up by my collision with a deer. I have been on side of road for three days and need to get back home. I have tools, camera, etc; and hope to get some advice from other members. Unfortunately, I can not figure out how to make a new post. In any case, I still would like to post to forum to try to get some direction on all these many intertwined issues I face -- body damage and mechanical issues.
So my first question is how do I make a new post to this forum?"

Ok, I humbly apologize to the forum gods. I posted in Show your ride, 2015. Stuck 4 pics in there and THEN found this! First forum I've joined and got all crazy and whatnot.
Glad I found this, explains a lot. Still looking around for a "new member say hi" thread. Anything like that by chance?
If all else fails, use ductape.
how do i post a new thread
I am glad I found this thread. I thought I was only allowed 1 PM message at a time.
Good to know!👌🏻
Why do we need to wait 10 days before i can PM someone ? I need help with something and I can't PM ...
Hi, I'm new to the forum, is there a way to post an image on a thread to show exactly how my car's issue looks like?

I posted a first topic today and when i try to re read it, i can see just empty box. Is this new user limitation or bug?
I also attached image.
Or is my topic at the admin hands for reading before it goes public?
I joined in 2007 but didnt post anything so far.
You can see it now, as you have only 3 posts so far, your post with pics must be approved by a moderator, that is the spam-o-matic software of the forum. When you have more posts, such approval is no longer needed. This is just to avoid spam posts.

Anyone an M5 forum member as well? I can't even ask a question or view many things there?
thanks for the info
A most excellent collection of knowledge written by well verified authors. That is very good. The bad is the exuberance of new users is delayed by at least ten days... Good ideas/questions and great examples (images) are forgotten in that time frame. Certainly a good filter for spam. I get that. We all appreciate a spam free experience here. But it is also the reason you probably have a whole lot of user accounts on the entry side of user status. I would be curious to know the average days it takes a user to accomplish these requirements. It would also be interesting to know how many accounts just sit there not being logged into because that user is contributing elsewhere....
I have read posts on this board for years. I decided to become a member just recently and feel a little put out that I am not imediatly welcome. So many of the ideas and fixes and cleverness from this board have been employed on the Bimmers I am responsible for. I am very grateful for that knowledge -that no one can see any evidence of- yet

Moderators check several times a day if there are posts to be approved by newbies. So it will not take that long, and after you have enough posts, there is no delay at all.
Unfortunately spam is a problem for all forums, our spam-o-matic has up to now
