Has anyone done this on a Z3? Mine is the 1.9, I did a search and found the link for a little home made jumper and nervously tried it. Put it on, turned the ignition to position 2 (when the dash lights come on) and left it for 3 sec. the first time and 5 seconds the second time but it didn't reset.
Am I doing something wrong. That freakin' oil service thing makes me nuts. Does anyone know what it's set at (milage wise)?
Your procedure seems ok. Maybe you didn't get a good ground.
Here's the bible on the subject

I got a bavauto news letter the other day and it talks about just holding the odometer button and switching the ignition key on and off etc for 2000 and up 3 series cars. Can this work on our 2000 up Z3's?
According to the Bentley manual, on Z3 models from 6/2000 - 2002 the Service Indicator can be reset with the trip odometer button. Turn key off. Press and hold odometer button and turn key to accessory position. Hold button for an additional 5 seconds until any of the following appear in the display: "Oil Service" or "Inspection", with "Reset" or "Re". Press button again and hold for approx 5 seconds until "Reset" or "Re" flash. While the display is flashing, press the button briefly to reset the Service Indicator. After the display has shown the new interval, the following will appear in the display for approx 2 seconds "End SIA". Note that you can only reset it again after you have driven 50 - 75 miles.
I have never tried this but the procedure is right out of the Bently manual. Good luck.
Figures...I have a 2000 M Roadster with a 5/1999 manufacture date. (I would SWEAR it was a 1999 but it always comes up a 2000)
