    1990 325is value?

    Hey all,

I have been looking endlessly for an E30 in Baltimore and the surrounding areas. This morning a 90 325is was posted on craigslist, but it seems a bit pricey. Any thoughts on this car by you guys? Does it belong to someone on the boards?

Apparently I can't post hyperlinks yet, so you'll have to copy paste the link below.

If the car is clean and doesn’t need anything that is a reasonable price for the car. Most of the people here look for deals on e30’s though.

I understand the difference between a good deal and "worth the money", but the KBB is $2,810 for excellent condition. $5450 just seems a bit high, it isn't even listed as being MD state inspected. Just thought I'd get some feedback from you guys.

Not too unreasonable. I would guess that there is a little negotiating room on it.

Yea dude, that does seem a bit steep, my car is mint and it was 2500 bucks, my friend just got a 89 325i for 900 bucks and it runs strong and only a few small dents... just keep your eyes open.

deals are out there. the reality is, unless you are one of us, maintenence scares most potential buyers away.

Everybody and I do mean everybody seems to have a perfect, mint, cherry, immaculate $1500 BMW. Funny thing is I have never seen one. If the car is right cosmetically and mechanically and you are comfortable with the price buy it. There is something to be said for not needing to rebuild engine, transmission, suspension, seats, etc. on that perfect car.

    I feel your pain.

I spent a tad over 9 months trying to find a clean e30 in Baltimore. I was on all the sites, all the forums, and even the newspapers. I visited a good amount of these cars to come up with the conclusion that Maryland has a horrible e30 selection. I hate to break it to you - but you're going to have to travel or have it delivered to our city's port. I ended up paying quite a bit for a non-running but great condition e30 in Pittsburg. Ive since been kicking myself though because there have been some excelent e30's for sale on this site's classified section [especially the 55k mile 325i in Cali]. Just to add on - shipping an e30 from Cali is about $850 through Dependable Auto Shippers i believe it's named. Hang out in that section - you'll find something for yourself soon enough and STICK TO IT. The local stuff is garbage and that's not changing any time soon.

May be heresy here, but BMWCCA web site has a steady supply of cars for sale by club members. Have to be a member to view current listings, but might be worth the cost. The club magazine is worth the annual dues.

Yea I hear what you are all saying. If I'm gonna spend prime dollar for an E30 then I want to make sure it's the one I want. I've been browsing E36's as well (I think I'd like to own both). I've had a bunch of newer cars recently (00 Celica GT-S, 98 Vette, 04 SRT-4), but I really like the older styling of the BMW's and it's much more fun spending money on a car when you don't have a 300-400 a month car payment with similar monthly insurance costs. I'm gonna stick to it, if anybody sees anything promising in the DELMARVA region, feel free to PM me or drop an email!

By the way, another person responded to my email about the E30 conv't below. $5000 range. Thoughts anybody on the convertibles?

EDIT: Apparently I still can't post links, but if anybody wanted to look the 1990 E30 vert is on cars.com, less than $7k, within 75 miles of 21228.

    Thanks for all the responses!

    -Steve
