Cracked Expansion tank for the coolant. It developed a small crack just before 100k miles.
I've had this... haven't replaced it yet wrapped magic wrap tape around it for a emergency short period till I get the new piece hasn't leaked a bit

I'm at 150,000 miles I've had a lot of work done to my car but its almost like bonding with your car even though you hate to do all the work.

    Replaced/Failed

    Coolant tank
    Control arm bushing
    Rear differential
    Drive shaft support bearing
Transmission 5spd had selector shaft break
    Window regulatory passenger side
    Driver side window ziptied
    Bushings in the linkage
    Rear drivers side break caliper/cylinder
Water pump completely failed and fell apart

I have had so many issues but I love my bimmer and would ever want to give her up... she is a beast. I'm sure I've replaced more but that's what I can think of right now. Lol.

Really you should just save and pay in cash. That's what I did. You'll save half the price that way.. why that much savings?

    • If you finance, you pay a ton in interest
    • If you pay in cash, not only is there no interest, but also you can negotiate the price as much as 2 or even 3 grand less. Expect up to 1 grand off, but you could get lucky if you're a good negotiator.
    • Moreover, you are limited with your private seller options if you finance. Meaning you're paying a lot more from a dealer.
    • All these things combined, you could be paying in cash as much as 50% less than your total amount after you financed and paid it off.

    Other benefits:

    • I wouldn't have even got my car if I didn't pay in cash. Another person was interested earlier that day and made an offer, so I said "How about I pay you cash, NOW." Seller agreed. Sellers like to see cold, hard cash in their pocket. It's hard to turn down. So you can beat other people to the punch because you have the cash in your hand.
    • You paid it off, impossible to repo because no payments to miss.
    • No stress about missed payments.
    • No late payment fees. Because no payments.
    • No worries about losing your job AND your car. So at least if you lose your job you don't have to worry about car payments. Hopefully you don't lose your job, but no one can predict the future. It's Murphy's Law: If anything can happen, it will. Murphy's law is not about having a pessimistic attitude. On the contrary, Murphy's law is telling you to be prepared. Paying a car in cash rather than hoping you can keep up monthly payments, allows you to have a more optimistic outlook on life, because there is less stress and less to worry about.

Is the over boosted steering ONLY on 01's like that is a definitive answer, 01=overboosted 02 and later=good? Can you tell by the vin?
