My friend and I are checking out an 92 Mtec cabrio this Sunday, the owners says it needs a tune up, driver's seat is ripped and it needs some part to make the top work, you have to open/close it manually.
car looks to be lowered and it has bbs Rc wheels.
any input? or suggetions what to look for?

My automatic doesn't skip a beat. And I don't have a need to drive at 5000-6000 rpms and I don't miss that couple of seconds going from 0-60. Autos aren't as bad as you guys make them out for.
Sounds like a good find. Go over it and check out for rust. You're not new to bmw's so you'll know what to look for. As I'm sure you already know, it's not a true M-technic II cabrio, but rather a hybrid that was released in '92. Make sure it has all your M-technic goodies such as body panels, as those will the be hardest to replace.
As far as the mileage, do the traditional questions about timing belt and/or tranny service. IF it's a manual, you'll want to place a higher value on it, but it's more than likely an auto. Even at 4k that's a pretty good price as I've seen the hybrid Technics going for 5 or even 6 thousand.
Report back to us on Sunday night. Take pics!
the car is an auto, but my friend is the one who is buying and he doens't mind. I'll take pics and post them on Sunday
