QUESTION!!! I have a 96 328is US and im trying to put a pre 95 325i engine into it. OBD1 engine in OBD2 car.

So this thread is pretty much telling me ill have no issue putting a obd1 engine and dme into a obd2 car? How will the body and security modules react?

I saw that I can bypass ews plus I got a red label 413 but I dont understand the crank sensor situation.

WILL A OBD1 CRANK MOUNTED SENSOR WORK WITH MY OBD2 REAR MOUNTED SENSOR?

I've been in the process for a couple weeks now of getting all the parts for M50 intake install on my 98 M3 and nice to see I can switch to OBD1 if I really needed to.

    This site is awesome!

    Thanks again!
The good thing is you probably won't need to! You can mount the M50 intake onto an OBD II car with an adapter kit from Turner Motorsports. The full OBD I conversion wouldn't be worth doing for someone with a street car, nor probably legal.

The 2.5L engine does not have the OBDII under-the-manifold Crank Position Sensor (CPS) that looks at the crank impulse wheel, the 2.5L CPS is in the front cover and 'looks' at the harmonic balancer mounted pulse wheel. You will need an OBDI engine harnes.
Not sure if going OBDI on a MY 1996+ OBDII chassis is legal in your area.

I think that is the best plan.

There are several threads on how this is accomplished.
