I have an 88 325ic with a manual transmission. Just replaced the oil control valve gasket. When I lowered the front end a small stream of dark liquid appeared about 3 inches behind (towards the rear end) the front stabilzer bar under the bellhousing right next to two of the bellhousing reinforcement plate mounting bolts. There is a great pic in Bentley (Engine section, page 62, fig 7-7). Roughly two ounces of the black liquid came out and then it stopped. I started the engine and let it run for two minutes. No additional liquid came out.

FYI-There were no scratches or chips at the spot of the leak. I've never had any problems with the transmission.

Wishful thinking - any chance that the leak was brought on because the front end was jacked up for about 18 hours?

Any thoughts or opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks.
