Bob,
I can point www.bimmerforums.com (the domain) to this forum right away, do you think we should do that? That way all the members will have to reregister, do you think thats a good idea? Also all the posts will still be at the ubb forum. Let me know what you think.
Regards,
Ray
I think we should change it over right away... This way people will start to use the new board. We can always keep the old board around for a bit (if possible) until we can figure out a way to transfer old posts over here.
Just an idea tho.
Oh... and my two cents. The smilies really need some help.
Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by hundreds of engineers that get paid thousands of dollars for something you bought at Pep Boys because your buddy who doesn't have a job told you it was 'better'?!?
That might be a good idea, keep the old board around and start using this one. Then, we can use the same tactic we did with that unnamed board, by posting on the new board and putting links to topics on this one. Of course, I have no idea if you (Ray) can do that...

Ray, that's an excellent idea! Let's do it...
Personally, I'm not concerned about saving the old posts. If we can, that's great but if not that's okay too.

The old forum will stay there and the posts wont be lost, they will just be on the other forum, we can always import them later when the import feature for UBB6 becomes available, so thats not a biggie. Are you guys sure I should point the domain to this one, it is instantanious and will change right away.
Ray
i agree...
might as well make the change as soon as possible..
the 3 series e 36 "Lounge" section went to crap few hrs ago.... after the GEneral discussion came back up.... this week both the General discussion and Lounge section went to shit so lets do the switch.
there's too many problems on the forum i go to so i'd say lets transfer as many people as soon as possible.
Richard
Hello!
Great idea. Switch now and keep the old board around until you can figure out how to transfer the old posts over here.

When you point the domain to this board, then bimmerforums will lead to here rather then the UBB board, right? What I think Kevlar, Bob and myself meant (If I'm wrong correct me guys) is we should keep the other board as the domain for a bit, and lead people over here to register. Once we get a few people registered on here, then switch where the domain leads to. And I agree with bob, the old posts are no big deal, the same questions will come up again as they always do.

Ray, that's good!
Also, don't forget to let the "E36 Forum" know we are moving too.

The other forum can still be accessed by going to www.octemple.com/bmw
I guess then I say change now. This is very easy to get used to! Anyways, I think there are very few people that will not take two seconds to register if they wake up in the morning and they end up here instead of the other board. In any case, I'm getting to bed, so I look forward to seeing how many more people are here in the morning! Goodnight Everybody!

Okay, the main page. I think the word will get out real fast that we have moved here. I'll try to keep a current post toward the top of the E36 and E36 (M3) pages at the old board.
The only members we might not catch woud be the ones who access the old board by going directly to their forum page. we'll take care of everyone in due time.

Hello,
Well, after being on the other-other board for about two years and then the other board(bimmerforums.com), I have to say this is the best platform so far. I thought it couldn't get better than the old bimmerforums. Guess I was wrong. Well, thanks again for creating this place for us M enthusiasts to get together and chat about these great cars, and other random things.
Looking forward to reading more BMW words of wisdom.
John
No more M3, Had to buy a family hauler to get cash for the new house. A momentary set back, but the M5 is coming soon.
Hello, World.
let's make the change now...it will only get better
some people don't go to the board a whole lot and they might not realize what happened... so a couple of things could be done.
1. send one of those broadcast emails to hit everyone to let them know that there is a new forum that is taking place of the current one for better ingress/egress.
2. to preserve the old messages, you could lock up all the existing threads and make it to where no new topics could be added. this would keep new info from going onto the old board.
3. put a link at the top of the old board that gets folks over to here, use flashing lights, etc,, to get their attention,
just my ideas..... i hope to not have to check both boards and cross post just to talk to my buddies....
one place is the best way. the sooner, the better.

Hello people. This is the best setup I've seen yet. It was no hassle re-registering. Maybe we could set up a link to post our mods either in the profile section or somewhere. It would be nice/helpful to see what everyone has.
Happy posting,
James
