What's this M5 worth to you?

    <HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1> <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->
I don't remember the exact specs but I was talking to the owner about it for a bit and this is what I remember..

the car is an 01'.. I'm pretty sure the color is Blue Water metallic, I thinkkk interior is black..
the car has something around 85k, don't remember for sure..
***the car was in a "light" flood and has a salvaged title..
the owner is a mechanic at a shop I've been going to for years so I know he knows his cars.. so he said when he bought the car the only thing damaged from the flood was a fusebox that he replaced, and he's been driving the car trouble free for a few years now..
a couple of things I remember him saying is he replaced the clutch, and some other things.. he said no electical problems and no odor in the interior (I don't think the water got into the interior, not 100% sure)

so what do you guys think? good deal or no?

i dont know, id have it checked out just to make sure theres no damage under the carpet or anything worse on the motor.

if it is legit though as he says, i would offer him no more than 21k.
i mean of course hes gunna tell you that it was a "light" flood, who wouldnt say that if they are trying to sell their car?

what is his asking price? reason for selling other than "personal financial"

salvage title could make the difference of getting full coverage insurane or only being able to get liability and horrible resale value.

just my 2 cents...but maybe he his telling the truth? you could get a great deal but its a risk

I am assuming the 'fuse box' he is referring to is the the fusable link panel which is underneath the ft. pass carpet in the floorboard, thus meaning the carpet did get wet.

if it was just light flood damage then why did it get salvaged...there must be more to the story

I don't deny the flood could have been worse than he is saying..

but I do know he's been driving the car for years trouble-free.. so I think, I mean everytime I was at the shop it's been right there parked.

he said he's looking to get 23k but he hasn't been actively trying to sell it, yet.

    so what do ya think??

you can find one with a clean title, that much mileage for 22 if you know how to shop! i have been looking at some for 21-27 with clean titles and some even with less miles that that

tell him 20-21, salvage title = ghey and it sounds not so trust worthy

ive been looking into these alot lately and one with lower miles and clean title could still easily go for 30, but it seems like as soon as they hit 70k miles the price drops a good amount

interesting...one thing to consider when buying a salvage car is that it will be HARD for you to sell it one day, due to that title...just food for thought.

    Light Flood Damage?

"The car has light flood damage" sounds a little bit like "I've been charged with committing 'light treason.'"

This is especially so in a model that has a history of electrical gremlins. I'm all about buying a car with fixable problems for a good price, but flood damage would make me wary.

"light flood damage" = "little bit pregnant"

Tempting...but I dunno....be very careful. I've had two cars totaled due to flood damage...and basically only the carpets were wet....

I wouldnt pay that much for a car with flood damage. If the fuse box got messed up from the flood, then something else did as well. There is no way water didnt get into the car if the fuse box got messed up. Actually, I probably wouldnt even buy it. And just cause you see it parked outside the mechanics shop, doesnt mean its been trouble free. Im friends with mechanics just around the corner, and several of them have several cars that stay parked. And they look like they are in fairly good condition.

Don't comment on my bumper because its not on my car anymore.

I'll take your word.. you probably know better than me..

I meant that particular mechanic drives it back and forth to work everyday, basically his daily driver..
