How do you like the speed? Is it faster than the UBB forum? Modem users let me know how it runs for you.

    Question

What was UBB written in? Perl?
Is php supposed to be faster?
    Is this running on MySQL?

    Anyways, just curious.

UBB uses perl, this bulletin board uses php4 and mysql. Yes it is supposed to be much faster. The host also has the Zend optimizer for PHP which makes it a bit faster also.

It's very fast for me... there are no more pauses when I open up a forum or a post. I click on the link and

    <font size="+6" color="red">BAM!</font>

    It loads.
Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by hundreds of engineers that get paid thousands of dollars for something you bought at Pep Boys because your buddy who doesn't have a job told you it was 'better'?!?

Zend? Compiles php code into machine code or something? I've heard there's also such utilities for perl.
Though spawning a new process from webserver for each call will be slow no matter what.

I dont know much about php or zend but i read in some other forum that zend optimizer reduces server load which overall makes things a bit faster.
